The Experience
It’s easy to reach the best of all things Cornish from this quiet spot sandwiched between the north and south coasts. You’re five minutes from the gardens at Trewithen; Eden and Heligan aren’t much further. You’ll find a good pub, Hawkins Arms, in Probus (3 miles), wild surfing beaches to the north, gentler paddling ones to the south.
Vicky and her family live in the main house with their Labrador; you stay in one of the converted farm buildings – bright, fresh spaces made cosy by underfloor heating and wood-burners topped up with unlimited logs. Stick on your favourite tunes and settle in with a good book.
Each cottage has lovely views and its own little courtyard. Wander the owners’ gorgeous garden; you’ll find a lake bustling with wildfowl and a wooden summerhouse. Have a barbecue here and watch the sun go down on balmy evenings or brave the Shepherd’s Hut sauna with cold plunge. You’ll find a gym too if you feel the need to keep fit.

A pleasure staying at the Dairy. Apartment is fitted with high quality and well maintained furnishings and the kitchen was well equipped with all necessities. Plenty of space for the 2 of us with our dog. The location was very peaceful and private. We highly recommend this apartment. Thank you Vicky for the lovely cinnamon buns to welcome us.

We had a lovely stay here for our mini moon. Very tucked away in Cornish countryside but accessible to everywhere (we headed to both the north and south coasts within half an hour). Vicky had made The Dairy extremely welcoming for us and our two spaniels.

Over our 6 weeks visit to the UK this was our favourite accommodation. Absolutely stunning. Beautiful gardens, great walks, incredible cinnamon buns, own fire, access to washing machine. Excellent information for activities.

Location
The neighbourhood
Within a small radius there are myriad farmers’ markets and farm shops to forage for local produce, St Austell (7 miles) is the nearest ‘big’ place for larger shops and supermarkets - its port is the charming harbour of Charlestown. A couple of miles past St Austell is the Eden Project. For coastal hiking you can be on the Roseland Peninsula in 20 minutes and Heligan and its Lost Gardens are 6 miles from your door.
Local points of interest from Vicky Goldby
- The Roseland Peninsula is right on your doorstep, with its beautiful stretches of coast path to be walked. Stroll through the little harbour town of St Mawes or have an al fresco lunch at the Hidden Hut overlooking Porthcurnick Beach.
- Discover some stunning gardens, right on the doorstep, Trewithen, Cearhays Castle, Tregothnan, Heligan and there's plenty more!
- Choose from a huge range of great places to eat within easy reach. Enjoy a tapas plate at the Beach Hut in Watergate Bay while watching the kite surfers at play. Or tuck into daily specials at the Plume of Feathers, our gastro-pub at Mitchell.
- North, south, east or west, you'll be able to explore the whole county from here without driving all day. Reach a beach on either coast in 20 minutes.
- Hire some bikes in Wadebridge to cycle the Camel Trail to Padstow. Then pick up some fish and chips from Rick Stein's and eat them overlooking the harbour.
- After a busy day out exploring, relax in our four acres of gardens. Watch the ducks and moorhens from the summerhouse verandah overlooking the lake or enjoy a picnic or barbecue for supper.

Introducing
Vicky Goldby
Vicky, who used to work in hospitality and has a passion for gardening, and her family live in the main house with their friendly Labrador. Vicky can arrange flowers, chocolates and champagne for your arrival, pop your shopping in the cottage and is on-hand should you need anything during your stay. The family generously shares their magical garden with you.
Great accommodation in a lovely spot, and Vicky couldn't be more helpful. Advance information about the property and things to do in the area provided in the weeks before the break help with planning and Vicky was very welcoming with extra advice. Highly recommend.
