The Experience

It’s the small things that make all the difference at David and Elizabeth’s charming cottage: a breadmaker for the kitchen, handmade soaps for the bath, fresh eggs from the hens, cream tea on arrival, a basket of logs for the wood burner and wellies for muddy walks with the family. The house is very cosy and homely with an upside down layout. It’s also a showcase for the soft furnishings business Elizabeth runs from a workroom on the farm so there’s plenty of her handiwork on display. They live next door but leave you to roam the grounds; there are horses to feed, vegetables to pick, a wildlife pond to peer into and a Victorian summerhouse for afternoon tea or a glass of wine. From every window you’ll see the garden – 25 acres of secluded land, including an orchard, just for you to explore. Walk to Penzance in just ten minutes for art and book shops, pick up supper from the fish and chip shop down the road.

Reviews

Samantha, London

The most fantastic stay at Peace and Plenty. It’s a very special place In a beautiful setting and the owners Elizabeth and David make it a stay to remember. We felt so welcome from the very start and were greeted by a delicious cream tea and the most beautiful fresh flowers throughout the cottage. The accommodation is very spacious and impeccably clean. The grounds are beautiful and it’s the perfect location to explore the beaches. Our toddler had the best of times digging up our vegetables for dinner and feeding the chickens and horses- as well as a ride on the farm tractor. We will be back!

Gemma, Malmesbury

The perfect setting for a family holiday, we cannot recommend Boscowan Farm highly enough. The cottages are beautifully finished inside and out, great location and a very warm welcome. We have stayed in the Summer and Winter and had equally fun trips! So many brilliant days out for families - we have stayed three times and still have attractions on our list to visit! Every little detail has been thought of in the cottages, they are wonderfully equipped and we love the fresh flowers, the cream tea and all the lovely extras! We hope to be back again soon - thank you Boscrowan Farm!

Jeremy and Anne, Somerset

We could not have had a more enjoyable holiday at Peace and Plenty. The cottage was beautifully appointed if the main bedroom was a little small but then you only sleep there! Our hostess and host were charming and helpful, and the setting just perfect with a summer house in the garden to cosy into with your cream tea or gin and tonic. Cornwall was a delight. We have already booked to return next year.

Gavin, Chertsey

Our tenth year visiting Boscrowan Farm, Peace and Plenty always being our choice of accommodation as it just feels like home. It is a credit to Elizabeth and David who continuously maintain the decour to such a high standard, also making the occasional improvement along the way. They are also wonderful hosts who make you feel so welcome (It was also nice to meet for the first time Nell the border collie). Boscrowan Farm is tranquil but only a couple of miles from Penzance and all routes to the best parts of Cornwall. We are already looking forward to our next visit!

Emma, Oxford

We had a wonderful week at Peace and Plenty. From the moment we arrived, Elizabeth made us feel wonderfully welcome and comfortable. Despite a long journey, the children had a new lease of life when David invited them to gather eggs from the chickens and join him to take the horses back to the stables. And we were revived with a delicious cream tea! We relished our time at the cottage. It is SO comfortable. Elizabeth and David really have thought of everything. They had prepared both mountains of information about the surrounding area and a carefully curated two pager - we pretty much went

Location

The neighbourhood

The village of Heamoor is a two-minute walk down the valley and has a pub, a bakery and a fish and chip shop. It’s a ten-minute walk to the bustling streets and pretty promenade of Penzance where you’ll find a busy harbour for boat trips, independent book shops, good art galleries and some new age shops which give a bohemian edge.

Local points of interest from David & Elizabeth Harris

  • Set in peaceful countryside where the only noise to wake you will be birdsong, yet the village of Heamoor with a well stocked shop open 7 days a week, a pub, a chemist and a baker is just two minutes walk away.
  • Visit the historic town of Penzance just over a mile away, enjoy window shopping in historic Chapel St, take a plunge in the iconic art deco Jubilee Pool. Or maybe it's a walk along the harbour and the promenade to Newlyn and watch the fishing boats.
  • No stay is complete without crossing the causeway to St Michaels Mount and climbing the winding path up to the castle. Make sure you find the giants heart on the way. Views over the bay, maybe a dolphin or two , tropical plants and then a castle to explore
  • So many beaches close by, it's hard to choose. There's Sennen for surfing. Godrevy for the seals, Porthcurno where the sea's like champagne, Cape Cornwall down past the fishing boats, Mounts Bay overlooking the Mount or Mousehole, St Ives and more........
  • Wake up in the morning and wander our fields for a pre breakfast stroll, if you're very lucky you might even glimpse a kingfisher on the pond or a heron motionless planning its catch.
  • For garden lovers there's nearby NT Trengwainton, just a 15 minute stroll or Trewidden and Tremenheere gardens less than 3 miles. Or half an hour or so in the car and there is Trelissick, Trebah, Glendurgan and more - fabulous gardens, some tropical too.

Introducing

David & Elizabeth Harris

David and Elizabeth Harris have lived here for almost 20 years and have transformed it from a dilapidated smallholding into a charming home and two guest cottages. They’re very proud of their place and love sharing their passion for the area, local produce and country life with guests. Elizabeth offers textile courses alongside her onsite soft furnishings business and they are both very environmentally conscious.
