The Experience
This Grade II-listed cottage is tucked away in a tiny hamlet overlooking the stunning Amber Valley, with plenty of wildlife in the fields around – birdwatchers will be in paradise – and the most incredible night skies.
Amanda and Martin live in the main farmhouse and welcome you with some thoughtful goodies – a homemade Victoria sponge cake, chocolates, a bottle of fizz on ice, fresh eggs from the chickens, local sourdough bread and butter. There’s a separate Cabin (which can be taken alone) available for further guests at an extra cost.
You’ll be happy here rain or shine, with plenty of books and magazines; in fine weather you can eat outside or simply sit quietly with a book and gaze down over four counties – the views are spectacular. There are pubs and shops a few minutes away, and plenty of historic houses are within a half hour drive.

Had a wonderful stay with family at The Old Granary. Blessed with great weather so made good use of the outdoor space which has stunning views for miles. The accommodation is first class, comfortable, spacious and very well equipped. Also impressed with the welcome basket of eggs, bread, butter, a bottle of prosecco and a delicious homemade Victoria sponge. A couple of issues we did have were quickly sorted by Amanda and Martin. The EV charging point was also plus. The location was excellent for trips to Cromford Mill and Hardwick Hall. Hopefully will be back in the future.

What a fantastic place to bring in the New Year! Although the NYE weather was atrocious, we still got our very own firework show across the rolling landscape which was special. From the moment we got here the welcome from Amanda and Martin was warm and the lengths they went to from the delicious homemade cake to the fizz on ice was amazing. Really felt like a home away from home.

A first class retreat, hosts Amanda and Martin are wonderful people very kind ... On entering we were blown away by the beauty and hygiene of the cottage, it didn’t stop there a fabulous welcome pack greeted us... 🙏 Stunning views which are best appreciated with a glass is wine whilst sitting in the hot tub. Plenty to do in the surrounding area, you won’t be disappointed, Chatsworth House, and Haddon Hall, Bakewell.... Lots of circular walks. If you are looking for accommodation in this area it would be a big mistake not to give this a try. Thank you Amanda and Martin ten out of ten.

Introducing
Amanda Brown
Amanda and Martin have been renting out their holiday cottage since 2007 and are experienced hosts. They live on site and provide a warm welcome on arrival and are on hand to answer any questions you may have during your stay. They love the place they have created and look forward to welcoming guests to The Old Granary.
We recently stayed for a week at the Old Granary, hosted by Amanda and Martin, and it was our favorite spot of all the places we stayed during our month in England. The location was perfect, quiet and beautiful, but also with easy access to the places we drove to each day. The layout, from the kitchen/dining area to the sitting room to the three upstairs bedrooms, was perfect. Not only did this place have absolutely everything we needed, it even had a washer and dryer. The beds were comfortable, the place was spotless, and our hosts were like friends when we needed them. And the views!!
