Lyme Regis, Dorset

Surrounded by woodland, a contemporary house and a barn, both filled with handmade furniture. Laze by the lake, amble to Lyme Regis…

Sleeping from 4 – 6

Trundle along a bumpy track to a tranquil lake frequented by dragonflies and ducks – tall trees and acres of woodland and pasture surround you. Choose between the light-filled house or the newly-completed barn – both have been loved into life by furniture designer James who has done much of the work himself. In the house there are floor to ceiling windows, a striking open-plan living space, James’ wonderful furniture dotted about, interesting art, a bathroom for each bedroom and a cosy wood-burner. The barn is just as light, warm and comfortable with a wheelchair-friendly downstairs bedroom and wet room, an open-plan living room and a stonker of a bedroom upstairs with views and a log-burner. Both kitchens are modern, sleek and have all the stuff you need including a hamper of local food, but the owners can arrange catering if you want a break. Grand romps are yours in ten acres of woodland, the young at heart will adore splashing around the lake in the boat, you’re just a few miles from the Jurassic coast for picnics and fossil hunting, the coastal path for puffing up and down, Lyme for shops and restaurants.

What a magical find. The location of The Wellhouse is truly magical, as is the home itself. We arrived to a roaring log fire and a food hamper which was a very thoughtful touch. The accommodation could not be better from the spacious bedrooms to the amazing open plan lounge and kitchen area. As a family of four we thoroughly enjoyed the walks from the front door and even spotted wild deer. The close proximity to the coastal towns coupled with the secluded location made this one of our most magical family holidays.

A wonderful house in an idyllic setting! The bed was one of the most comfortable we've slept in and the woodburner made for a cosy, warm environment while we enjoyed the stunning view through the lovely large glass windows. Highly recommended!

This is such a stunning place, totally removed from urban living, with everything on site you need to totally relax: beautiful house, grounds, BBQ and your own lake! I love the area, with the hubbub of Lyme regis, but the house is so tranquil to return to. The kids also just love the lake. We will be back. Thankyou.
