The Experience

Perhaps it’s the gentle, unstuffy attitude of Kate and Edward. Or the great position of the house with its glorious views across the Golden Valley. Whichever, you’ll feel comforted and invigorated by your stay in this family home. Kate is a keen gardener, swathes of white tulips flourish under trees heavy with white blossom and she is happy to show you round her cutting garden.

You feel nicely cocooned in the guest wing: a pretty bedroom above your own comfortable, book-filled sitting room opening to a flowery courtyard.  Sleep soundly on the softest of pillows, wake to deep countryside peace and a delicious breakfast. Kate brings in a tray piled high with different jars of cereals, a bowl of fruit, sometimes compote, yogurt, tasty bacon, home apple juice and eggs from the hens.

There’s a profusion of inspiring gardens to visit; you can join the  Cotswold Trail from the door or borrow bikes; and the village pub does great food.

Reviews

Timmy and Sarah, London

This is a gorgeous little B&B set in very pretty gardens. The room is delightfully peaceful and you have the added benefit of a generous, private sitting room to relax in. Edward and Kate are wonderful hosts and the delicious breakfast in the morning includes eggs from their own hens. The village is well-placed to enjoy trips to other charming Cotswold villages. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would very much recommend to others.

Cara and Johannes, Petersfield

Absolutely loved our stay! beautiful setting, lovely bedroom above a sitting room where we were welcome with a lovely cup of tea and biscuits and where we also enjoyed a delicious breakfast. Bed was incredibly comfortable, and everything was of highest quality, combined with the warmth and charm of Kate and Edward, who made us feel as if we were at home, and clearly work hard at keeping the house and surrounding gardens with tennis court, fields, vegetable patches etc. in top shape. It was just lovely wandering around the premises for 20 minutes before breakfast and enjoy the beauty of it all.

John, Cheltenham

Everything about this B&B is terrific. Kate and Edward are friendly, polite and gentle hosts who really put you at ease and want you to be able to relax. You stay in your own annex with a lovely large, airy, light and comfy sitting room, where you also have your breakfast, and a similarly light, airy and spacious bedroom and huge bathroom upstairs. The bed is enormous and the mattress is just right. Breakfast is delicious and made with local produce; the eggs and apple juice come from the farm itself. I didn't ask about the marmalade but it was so good it had to be home made too! Lovely.

Mark, London

We can only endorse the other enthusiastic comments about Well Farm. It's delightful, comfortable and friendly. We had a wonderful weekend there.

Geri & Philip, Bristol

The description of Well Farm on Alastair Sawday (The Experience) sums it up perfectly. Kate & Edward are very welcoming & friendly hosts who provide a relaxed atmosphere in their beautiful home. It's great walking country with good pubs & cafes within reach on foot or within a short drive. The weather wasn't on our side so it was ideal to be able to come back to our own cosy sitting-room with its cheery stove & coffee, tea & biscuits on hand. A perfect B&B whatever the weather.

Easy for exploring the South Cotswolds. Charming market towns Tetbury, Cirencester and Stroud are all nearby: antiques, shops, markets. Wonderful walks start from the house: discover the Golden Valley; walk along the old canal, through beech woodlands or Cirencester Park. Find excellent pubs in Frampton Mansell (a walk) and Sapperton (three-minute drive); stroll to Jolly Nice farm shop and café.

Introducing

Kate & Edward Gordon Lennox

Kate and Edward moved here in 1998, creating the garden from scratch; they love sharing their home. Much thought goes into everything from good food to the best linen. Edward is happy to get out maps and suggest walks. Kate knows all the local gardens, and she runs a garden and flower design business - Rich Pickings - growing some of the flowers here. Friendly dogs Jaffa and Dot live here too.
