The Experience
This is a romantic escape for couples or a getaway for families who love the countryside: foraging, nature trails, dreamy sunsets, cooking outdoors, endless walks through beautiful landscapes – it’s all easy thanks to next-door, creative owners Polly and Matt (who created the beds from recycled finds).
Inside you’ll find wooden floors, a huge wood-burner with stacks of logs, two squishy sofas, reclaimed lamps, blossom in jars and plenty of books and games. All is colourful and the feel is light and spacious. The grown-up bedroom has an enormous bed with a Matt-inspired scaffolding headboard and an extra day bed in antique wood; adventurous types will be thrilled with the iron steps and canvas door into the tent room under the eaves. You’ll also find a super sauna tucked into the hillside with glorious views of the Black Mountains.
You cook in an open kitchen with plenty of space, some basics in the cupboards and pretty views to the garden and hills.

Warmth and Wonder at Garn Farm is a wonderful place to stay, very peaceful, very unspoilt, and tremendous views. The accommodation is perfect and cosy being in a lovely old barn, the hosts Matt and Polly are very friendly and helpful and they went 'above and beyond' for us when we had a medical issue. The local village is lovely with great pubs and shop within 5 minutes drive. The grounds are great for nature and Matt and Polly have made paths so you can wander around the woods - but some of the paths are steep. We definitely want to return.

We had such a relaxing week in the Barn! The birdsong was the only sound we could hear. The views are truly spectacular and the homemade sourdough bread and fresh eggs Matt presented us with, a true treat! We do hope to return to this glorious place. A slice of paradise…

Introducing
Matt & Polly Freer
Matt manages the farm and woodland and works in the charity sector, Polly is a counsellor. They have a sensitive approach to managing 48 acres including wilding and grazing. There are ducks, chickens and lots of wildlife.
We had a wonderful two weeks at Warmth and Wonder. Everything is set up to be as welcoming as possible. The Barn with its surrounding spaces and superb views gives a great sense of relaxation and freedom. Outside we had lovely meals sat on the verandah and around a fire and inside the sofas provided a very comfortable and convivial family space. The surrounding area that we know and love is beautiful and perfect for interesting walks, visits to ancient churches, contrasted with Hay's bookshops and Hereford cathedral and, for us this year, the Three Choirs Festival.
