The Experience
Originally a Roman settlement, this ancient village is resplendent with a medieval stone bridge over a babbling brook and a beautiful church. Step into spacious, attractively curated interiors with gorgeous art on the walls, exposed beams, leaded windows and a merry fire on cooler days. There are plenty of quiet spots to sit with a book, study the menu or enjoy a glass of fine wine.
You’ll eat well from a reassuringly short menu – modern cooking with an interesting twist, all locally sourced or homegrown ingredients from their own farm and supervised by clever executive chef Chris Bolan. Bedrooms (in the main building or the old stables) are supremely comfortable and spoiling with river or courtyard views.
Wake to a hearty, thoughtful breakfast then stride out for a walk along the brook, spotting birds and rabbits, enjoying this peaceful countryside. Return to a pretty garden, perfect on balmy days with an outdoor bar and grill.

Location
The neighbourhood
There's plenty of community engagement in the village with a Monday evening supper club and performances by local artists. Explore the church – once moated and with six bells, it has some interesting new stained glass. You're surrounded by green fields and footpaths, perfect for walkers. Market Harborough is five miles, a quintessential English market town. Visit Bradgate Park and Swithland Wood.
