The Experience

The house is Tudor with Victorian and Georgian additions, it’s the friendliest of places to stay and Paris will immediately make you feel at home. You’re in the heart of Bergh Apton, a conservation village seven miles south-east of Norwich in some wonderful walking and biking countryside.

The double rooms are large and light-filled with plenty of good books and views over the garden, the single is cosy with an armchair and its own bathroom. Wake to tasty breakfasts at a round table in the open sitting and dining room: fresh fruit, yogurt, muesli, bacon and eggs, eggs Benedict, crushed avocado with mushrooms and poached eggs. The big garden is a haven for wild birds and you are welcome to sit on the terrace.

You’re close to the Norfolk Broads for boat trips, Norwich for the cathedral, Close and restaurants, or you can tackle one of the twelve circular walks on the Wherryman’s Way. Return to much comfort.

Graham

I have just returned from my second visit to Washingford House and would like to say that it is a most attractive house in lovely surroundings. Mrs Back is a most attentive and friendly hostess. The place is certainly 5 star.

Margaret

The PERFECT place to relax and unwind. We would definitely recommend Washingford House with its large, comfortable bedrooms, beautiful gardens and charming hosts. A super place to stay.

Helen

Our first visit to England from Moree NSW, Australia was definitely enhanced by our 10 days stay with Paris and Nigel at Washingford House. We cannot recommend this B&B more highly. We were greeted with warmth and friendship right form the first moment and immediately felt comfortable and at home. The house is beautiful and the grounds are stunning, the entire atmosphere is relaxing and refreshing. Having little Tessie greet us every time we came "home" was a heart warming ritual. Thank you Paris, Nigel and Tessie for helping us to really enjoy and appreciate beautiful England. x

Susan

Paris welcomed us with open arms for a last minute booking. Couldnt have been a more friendly welcome. Our second visit and even more in love with this place. Everything is fabulous, the house and gardens, the beds, the breakfast. We have been to many b and bs but this is top of our list. Great bike rides, local farm shop, not far from Norwich either. Superb.

Introducing

Paris & Nigel Back

Nigel and Paris are both Norfolk born and bred – they love their county and are happy to give tips to guests on how to make the most of their stay. They have lived in Washingford House for many years and did extensive work on it to make it the lovely home it is today. They enjoy walking, tennis, cycling, theatre and, of course, meeting B&B guests.
