The Experience

This is a busy, inclusive place with lots of locals popping in for a coffee, something to eat and of course to buy delicious bread and pastries in the bakery. You eat in the busy dining room with its wonderfully high ceiling, or up the winding stairs in the gallery.

Freshly baked croissants are delivered to your room before you come down for a proper breakfast: homemade granola, fruit, yogurts and a full English with bacon and sausages from Walter Rose in Devizes. The lunch and dinner menus are Italian-inspired with wood-fired pizzas, small and large plates plus a few classic dishes, all made with as much Somerset produce as possible.

Upstairs bedrooms have a minimalist feel but they’re also very cosy: find a pillow menu, lovely views, good books and magazines, coffee machines and a mini bar. Nothing has been forgotten, all is pleasing.

Reviews

Even on the most miserable day you'll feel warm and happy walking in here past the belting-out-the-heat bakery, the wood-fired pizza oven creating an inferno and the smell of freshly baked sourdough greeting you. There's a lovely community feel to this happy place where locals flock, guests are looked after superbly, the food is outstanding and bedrooms and bathrooms gleam.
