The Experience

The Renwicks are tremendous hosts. Their wonderful flagstone-halled farmhouse in the South Downs National Park is great for walkers and cyclists and you get your own guest sitting room for planning your next adventure. Amanda gives you generous breakfasts: muesli, Greek yogurt and fruit, bacon and sausages from the local butcher, eggs from their own chickens and homemade jams. You eat on the terrace or in the quirky rustic kitchen by the wood-burner with comfy sofas.

You’re just 5 minutes from a good fish and chip shop in Chilgrove, and Chichester is an 8-minute drive for endless restaurants, but if you can’t be bothered to get in the car then you can use a simple space to prepare your own food – hurrah! You’ll also sometimes find a treat waiting, like shortbread or a slice of homemade cake. Bedrooms are comfortable with wool duvets, silk-filled pillows and garden flowers.

Walk for miles through the beautiful countryside.

Reviews

Loreto and I had a lovely time here. Amanda is a wonderful hostess and made us tea and lemon cake. Our dog Luna was made to feel a member of the family! It is a fantastic base for exploring Chichester, Arundel, the Witterings, etc. Thanks very much indeed.

Ed and Loreto, Shaftesbury

Amanda is the most welcoming of hosts, and went above and beyond the call of duty to make us feel at home. If pure comfort and perfect breakfasts are your thing, in a stunning setting, then look no further.

Tassy, London

I loved this farmhouse and the very friendly and welcoming hostess Amanda. Over the years, she has had fantastic and well deserved reviews and is keen to make her guests comfortable and happy.

Fiona, Sawday's Inspector

Amanda could not have been more welcoming and accommodating from the moment we arrived. We felt completely at home and wonderfully taken care of. The setting is beautiful as well. This is a truly special place run by a truly special family!

Helen, London

The warmest welcome from wonderful host Amanda, nothing was too much trouble. The Bedrooms are clean, pretty and airy, crisp cotton bedding and sublimely comfortable mattresses. The view from our double room looked out onto the beautifully kept garden. Spot woodpeckers on the feeders and if you are very lucky hear a Cuckoo! The huge rainfall shower ensures you are fully awake to enjoy a fantastic Aga full English Breakfast then out to explore the sublime South Downs... Kingley Vale with its ancient Yews is a must, as is Bosham where you can catch a foot ferry across the water. Magic!

Mel and Nick, Bristol

A peaceful retreat in busy Sussex and just a few miles from Chichester in rolling South Downs. A working farm but not intrusive on visitors' activities. Amanda was an attentive host in the background, but always helpful if called upon. Huge breakfasts offered and enjoyed. A very comfortable stay for three nights enabled us to enjoy Pallant House in Chichester and explore surrounding country.

Robert, Dawlish, Devon

This place is just wonderful. Amanda does an incredible job. It’s beautiful, spotlessly clean and everything down to the linen and the butter dish is high quality. It’s very tastefully decorated but practical and homely too. It has everything you need and Amanda is on hand for anything else. Perfect for families with little ones - you have the whole upstairs to yourself and can lock the doors at the top of the stairs so there is no escape! Our girls (4&2) loved it. They decided that they wanted to stay and had to be prised away. We will definitely be back!

Ian, London

Absolutely fantastic!!! (Another perfect Sawday experience) Great hosts, lovely rooms, amazing shower, and a great walk up through the farm's fields to the Devil's humps. Very special.

Andrew, London

Wow, late booking and just passing through for a night but what a great find this was. Absolutely spotless, fabulous dahlias (thanks Amanda, our dahlia cutting garden is already prepped for this year) and gorgeous breakfast. No concerns with being on a working farm. Our puppy left a tiny present in the kitchen, so assuming we are allowed back, this place is very much on the list to re-visit. Thanks for a great stay.

Malcolm, Warwicks

What a wonderful time we all had with you last weekend! Your hospitality was so very welcoming throughout our stay! Our rooms were beautifully furnished and the beds were extremely comfortable, your breakfasts were delicious and plentiful. Your personal recommendations were extremely valuable too! Thank you for making our visit so very memorable, our three girls want to come back next year!

Joanne, London

An excellent B&B: super hospitality throughout from Amanda - really very helpful indeed. A great bedroom, bathroom and sitting-room, and a wonderful location in the South Downs. Very dog-friendly too. Delicious (and huge!) breakfast. Very well placed for exploring the Downs and South Coast, with many good pubs nearby. Highly recommended.

Mark, Andover

Thanks again Amanda for having us at your heavenly farmhouse. The rooms were all so spacious and beautifully done with lots of light and lovely attention to detail. Our four poster bed, the huge walk-in shower and the giant bubble bath bottle all added the ‘wow’ factor! Your breakfast was amazing with so many options and everything was very yummy! Your dogs (especially Sprout) were an added bonus for us and made our stay extra special for the children. I only wish we could’ve stayed longer and we’ll definitely be recommending you.

Mara, Watford

What a wonderful place to stay! Completely private suite of rooms, massive bathroom with great shower, comfortable bed, beautifully furnished, everything supplied, nothing too much trouble. Tea, coffee etc with fresh milk every time, wonderful breakfast and fabulous hospitality. Great garden to sit in. What's not to like? Thank you SO much.

Lindy, Bromley

Really excellent - Amanda, family and dogs were so welcoming - they could not have done more. We stayed in a beautiful room, with views of the garden. Bathroom palatial! Amanda was a wonderful hostess - nothing was too much trouble - and her breakfasts were to die for. Highly recommend Crows Hall Farm - well placed and within easy reach by car of lots of interesting places to relax, eat, visit...

Sinead, London

What a find! A glorious, dog-friendly b&b in beautiful countryside only 9 minutes drive from Chichester town centre and even closer to that motor-racing heaven Goodwood. From a glorious old farm kitchen, where our host, Amanda, served us a cracking 'Full English', stairs lead to lovely bedrooms on the first floor. White linen on a comfy four poster, simple decor in excellent taste, big fluffy towels in a spacious bathroom with a walk-in shower to die for! Our dog even had his own special chair to sleep in. And all at a price that does not break the bank. We shall definitely return!

Nic, Tenterden

We had a fantastic stay at this beautiful farmhouse, everything was perfect, more than we hoped for. Lovely walks and a delicious breakfast. We can't wait to come back!

Beverley, Henfield

Superb place. Friendly welcome into a peaceful and well appointed wing of a delightful farmhouse - with a nice garden too. Amanda has provided for a very comfortable stay, with thoughtful accessories and all of it setting an impressively high quality level - including the conversation. A real gem of a place, within easy reach of Goodwood and the Coast, yet rural, peaceful and private - all located on a working arable farm. Will be staying again. Cannot recommend highly enough.

David

We found this lovely B&B at the very last minute, for a couple of nights at the end of Goodwood week. Amanda and Peter are the most friendly and relaxed hosts, looking after our every need in their stride. The rooms and bathrooms are beautifully done, very comfortable and cosy. We had great chats with them both and were greeted each morning with a knock out full english. I would highly recommend this B&B, where you feel completely relaxed from start to finish, a really lovely place to stay.

Introducing

Amanda Renwick

Amanda has lived on the farm for 25 years with husband Peter, a third-generation farmer. They have three sons together and the farm will be handed down to their eldest, Sam, who is already working there. The family are hugely warm and welcoming, and they have a friendly, quiet dog who you may meet too.
