The Experience

The estuary is navigable for a few hours on either side of high tide so bring paddle boards, kayaks or a row boat (there is safe storage) and launch off on an adventure. At low tide the waders and protected birds gather to feed – join the tow path to get even nearer.

Admire parquet floors, a lovely sunny sitting room upstairs (with another cosier one downstairs), supremely comfortable bedrooms and a superb kitchen. It’s light, bright, beautifully thought-out and spacious with watery views from upstairs. There are also books on design, art by local artists, telescope and binoculars and old French posters and prints collected by the family. You are left a welcome hamper of local produce from the farm shop at Goodwood with all you’ll need for your first breakfast.

Beach towels are waiting, as are crabbing buckets and lines. On rainy days you’ll feel happy to be in such a gorgeous space, and you’re only 30 paces from the 16th-century Crown & Anchor.

Reviews

What a treat to stay in the only holiday home in Dell Quay, with a lovely pub opposite, the water practically lapping at your feet, fabulous sailing, walking and cycling and a house to return to that will delight in every way.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Harbour View House from start to finish. Alison was very welcoming, greeting us when we arrived. We were delighted with the welcome pack and much appreciated the detailed local information Alison gave us. The house is in a wonderful location, a few steps from the water with local walks, and also a great pub. The house is fully equipped and the garden well set up with comfortable outdoor furniture, perfect for al fresco meals and relaxing. We especially enjoyed the lovely views from the upstairs living area. We very much hope to return.

We very much enjoyed our stay here in Harbour View House, taking the opportunity to have friends and family stay with us throughout the holiday. It is a lovely house with everything you could wish for. The decor is superb and so interesting too. We spent quite a lot of time looking at everything and talking about them! The first floor sitting room was so good too overlooking the Dell Quay. This is a special place for my husband who came regularly to the pub as a child for a lemonade and a bag of crisps!! We enjoyed exploring the area too. Thank you very much. It would be nice to come again.

Georgie, Jersey

We loved every second of our stay at Harbour View House. Allison was there to welcome us to her beautiful home and left the fridge full of goodies. The interiors are absolutely stunning. Allison has the most incredible taste . The location of the property is fabulous and the pub opposite is a must for dinner! We can’t wait to stay again 👍

Vivienne, Ashford

We had a fabulous 5-day break at Harbour View House. Superb location, opposite an excellent pub, with great coastal walks from the door. Once through the gate, the hustle and bustle of the busy little quay melt away, and you find yourself in a peaceful private garden that wraps around the house and has several comfy seating areas. Inside, the house really has the wow factor, whilst also being extremely comfortable. Alison is an excellent host. She was there to greet us and gave us a lovely warm welcome, a tour of the house and lots of local information. We were really sorry to leave.

Location

The neighbourhood

This is a very special place and right next to the Dell Quay Sailing Club. Keen walkers will want to go all the way to West Wittering on the coast path for lunch at Billy's on the Beach and then wander home again - about a three-hour trip in total. A shorter walk will take you to Chichester. There are ancient country pubs, Bosham is close and the station is a five-minute drive for trains to London.

Local points of interest from Alison & Michael Moss

  • Harbour View House is on the shores of Chichester harbour - 60 paces away. Views over the water are constantly changing. No two days are the same. Watch the wonderful sunsets with glass in hand at the pub 30 paces away or from your armchair.
  • With a rich Roman heritage Chichester has so much to show you. The impressive Cathedral spire will grab your attention whilst you take an elevated stroll around the city on walls built by the Romans. Stop for coffee or browse the local farmers market.
  • For the greatest celebration of motorsport and car culture Goodwood is close by. The Festival of Speed and Revival Meeting never fail to deliver incredible experiences. Horse racing at stunning Goodwood racecourse is not to be missed.
  • Walk along the harbourside tow path directly from the house. Stop off at Chichester Marina, The Ship Inn or the Quarterdeck for snacks . For a longer walk, the restaurant Billy’s on the Beach never fails to provide a reason to keep up the pace!
  • Cycle Salterns Way straight from the house, discover the beauty of the South Downs Way. Explore historic Bosham and grab a treat from Daves ice cream van. Watch Bosham Car Wash 2 on YouTube before you go. Time and tide really don’t wait!
  • Chichester Harbour is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Definitely to be admired but do get out there, get on it or in it! Try sailing, paddle boarding, kayaking, fishing, swimming, surfing at The Witterings or just simply walk around it

Introducing

Alison & Michael Moss

Alison is an events manager specialising in interiors for big weddings and parties. This place, her husband's family holiday home, has been a labour of love for her. Michael (an orthopaedic surgeon) is still a passionate sailor having sailed as a child and teenager here every year. Alison will meet and greet when she can, otherwise you let yourselves in. They hope you'll love it as much as they do.
