The Experience

You’ll feel cosseted inside this nineteenth-century townhouse – each room has been thoughtfully designed. The sitting room is the largest, where you’ll find two jauntily-upholstered sofas, soft throws, books and board games, smart magazines, Netflix and Spotify, so if you’re stuck indoors there’s plenty to keep you absorbed. The kitchen is bursting with good kit, a Nespresso machine, local milk, chocolates, biscuits and apple juice, and there’s a separate bright dining room too.

Both bedrooms (sharing a bathroom with a bath plus a shower) have big Loaf beds (one king, the other super king), Dusk linen, paintings by a local artist, good lighting and plenty of storage space. You have hot water bottles, umbrellas, torches – even a bed, towels and treats for your dog – it’s the kind of place where you just know somebody has made a huge effort for you.

A short walk will take you (and the dog) to the Cowdray Estate for some excellent walking and a farm shop.

Reviews

This period townhouse provides sanctuary in the middle of busy Midhurst. Top quality mattresses, linen and duvets whisper 'comfort'. Wifi, Spotify and Netflix are on offer if the great outdoors doesn't appeal. The kitchen has a fridge/freezer, a range, Nespresso coffee machine and smoothie maker. Fresh flowers and local produce greet guests with treats and a comfy kitchen kennel for pooches.

From the moment we arrived we knew we had stumbled upon something special. From the immaculate interior to the thoughtful extras . Sumptuous bed linen . A bath of dreams, beautiful high end furnishings, Chocolates, fresh fruit, cakes ,milk and even sherry . We planned to do so much but found ourselves wanting to stay put and enjoy all that the Stock exchange had to offer. Midhurst has some wonderful restaurants , cafes and tea rooms and has to be the friendliest town we have ever visited . Mary-Ann was so helpful in recommending places of interest and couldn’t be more helpful.

This really is a wonderful space…….As soon as we walked through the door, the Stock Exchange gave us a great big hug ! Everything is just perfect, and it’s true, Midhurst is full of lovely friendly people. Thank you Mary Ann for your wonderful hospitality. Bestest of wishes Sue and Alistair x

The Stock Exchange is a gorgeous, relaxing accommodation. Every aspect of a luxurious stay is taken into account. Some very thoughtful extra touches, a bottle of sherry and doggy treats were a lovely surprise! The beds/bedding were the most comfortable we have ever slept in outside our home, an essential part of our holiday. The cooker/stove was excellent too particularly for cooking a Christmas feed. Very well thought out use of space and a well-equipped kitchen. We had a wonderful stay!

A haven of peace so beautifully presented. Every need is thought of from the latest magazines, fresh fruit, candles ready in the bathroom to provide atmosphere. A soothing colour scheme throughout with vibrant touches of red and green in the dining room. Outside plenty to do locally and a good choice of places to eat and for culture and exercise. Every question quickly answered. We would love to return one day.

Location

The neighbourhood

You're surrounded by good places to eat, shops selling everything from antiques to takeaway pizza and you can hire bikes, so once you're installed you're pretty much sorted. But there are good pubs a short drive, including The White Horse at Graffham for a fabulous Sunday roast. Petworth House is 15 minutes in the car, Arundel Castle 30 minutes. Wittering, Bosham and the coast are half an hour.

Local points of interest from MaryAnn Kauntze

  • Petworth House and Park located in beautiful Petworth itself is well worth a visit. Just a 10-minute drive.

Introducing

MaryAnn Kauntze

MaryAnn used to own a self-catering villa in Ibiza so she's a dab hand at knowing what guests need. Doing up this history-filled house was her lockdown project. She lives not far away and is on hand if you need her but will otherwise let you get on with your holiday. She leaves you a superb guide to all the local walks and lots more.
