The Experience

Part of the Ramsbury Estate, this is a classy inn and one that showcases Ramsbury Estate produce. Come for Ramsbury beers, gin and vodka, kitchen garden fruit and veg, and seasonal game. Completing this pleasing picture are ten bedrooms named after game birds and fish. Cosy lodgings for fishermen, and for those exploring the glorious Marlborough Downs, they come with rich fabrics, down duvets, big beds, vintage books, and super bathrooms with White Company lotions.

Back downstairs, enjoy a pint of Gold in the smart, hop-adorned bar, or bag the sofa in the library-style lounge and entertain yourself with a copy of The Field. Pop into the stylish restaurant for beef from their two herds, water meadow lamb, game from the sustainably managed woodland. You can visit the brewery and distillery for a tour.

On balmy evenings it’ll be grand to sit in the garden, just yards from the river bank, to sup a pint of real ale or sample their gin.

Reviews

A handsome,17th-century inn on Ramsbury's main square, a quaint old market town on the river Kennet. The modern makeover and stylish dining room combine with old beams and timbers, while both inn and coach house rooms offer high levels of comfort. Expect meat, game, garden produce, real ale and gin from the Ramsbury Estate, who own the inn, and join one of the brewery and distillery tours.

Excellent Sunday lunch, jolly atmosphere with locals at the bar and walkers with dogs mingling happily with those in the dining room. Very efficient and friendly staff. Just the ticket.

Nicola, Bristol

The Bell at Ramsbury was lovely in every way. Delightful staff, decor, comfort and breakfasts, although a bit of variety on dinner menu would have been appreciated. We loved the table linen and presentation at all meals. Loved the slippers and dressing gowns, comfortable beds and warm welcome. I will return if in the area, and will definitely recommend.

Lynne

A very fine dining pub, with unusual dishes and attentive staff. We also stayed in a room over the pub, refurbished to a high standard. We'd certainly stay again - first class.

Local points of interest from James .

  • The picturesque village of Ramsbury is 4.5 miles from Hungerford, 5.5 miles from Marlborough and 12 miles from Swindon. Set in the beautiful Kennett Valley, the village is the perfect place for long country walks.
  • Visit the nearby towns for shopping or travel further afield to visit one of Wiltshire's historic country houses.
  • We brew our own beer, distil our own Gin & Vodka from our own wheat from our estate & can offer tours of our Brewery and Distillery that is less then 2 miles from the Bell
  • We have an acre of our own kitchen garden at one of our farms that provides the kitchen with fresh daily produce
  • We press our own rapeseed oil from our estate and have our own livestock that we farm naturally from field to fork
