The Experience
There’s jazz in October in Marsden, a food festival at Holmfirth in July, and heavenly walks all year round. Hey Farm Barn, attached to the owner’s fine family farmhouse, is at the top of a Pennine track, looking south over rolling moorland… the setting is a glory. Friendly practical Rebecca, with a background in interior design, is passionate about her new venture – step inside to be wowed. Here is a beautiful, generous, light-filled space, with a big barn window by the dining table and a window seat overlooking the valley. There’s a barbecue patio for summer, a stylish wood-burner for winter (logs on the house) and colours fresh, cool and light. The galley kitchen is superb, and the bedroom is on the gallery, a warm delicious haven, with curtains of simple ticking, beams painted palest aqua and floorboards washed in white. The bathroom, white and bright, is a flit downstairs. A two-day breakfast hamper is provided (so are chocolates in a little dish) and the pub is a 15-minute scamper down the hill. Brilliant for walkers, lovers and dreamers; there’s even a sofabed for kids.

This was the perfect cottage for our first family holiday with our 5 month old son. Rebecca (the owner) was friendly and gave us a warm welcome. The cottage is nicely decorated with a light airy feel. It is also well equipped and immaculate. There are great walks for all standards and lovely little villages near by with good shops and cafes. We would highly recommend this cottage for a couple or family with a young child.

Local points of interest from Rebecca Breakey
- Enjoy and explore strolls, runs, bike rides on or off road, right from Hey Farm Barns front door, returning to a cosy fire and hot bath in relaxing surroundings. Alternatively have a cup of tea, glass of wine on the patio overlooking the garden and valley.
- Marsden railway station less than 1/2 mile walk away can take you into the heart of Yorkshire. Enjoy more wonderful countryside, fabulous towns or cities such as York or Leeds. Pop over the hill to Manchester or the Lancashire Mill towns & countryside.
- Alternative years in February the Imbolc fire festival is held at the Standedge Visitors Centre. April’s Cuckoo Day welcomes the spring and Marsden hosts an annual Jazz Festival weekend every October, with a wealth of music at paid and free venues!

a extremely well equipped cottage, where the owner had thought of everything visitors could want. Terrific location with great variety of places to see, both rural and in nearby towns and cities. Would definitely like to return
