The Experience

Enjoy a G&T in the pretty south-facing garden; sometimes you’ll have it to yourselves. You’re in the heart of Britain’s tiniest city with private lawns, brimming borders and views over the cathedral roof to the skyline.

A former farmhouse, there’s plenty of room, and games to play, round the wood-burner in the living room and at the big wooden refectory table in the kitchen, so everybody can help cook. There’s a quiet study if you fancy escaping with a book.

Hop on a ferry to Ramsey Island from three miles down the road, walk a lazy mile to explore caves and rock pools at Caerfai Bay; surfers will head for Whitesands Bay just below and you can hire kayaks at Abereiddi’s Blue Lagoon. There’s a downstairs shower room for de-sanding and a barbecue to fire up in the garden.

Reviews

Grant, Manchester

Clean, beautiful and generously generously appointed cottage. Hamish and team were helpful and easy to deal with. We could not ask for more. A great cottage in a great location.

Annette, Burton in Kendal

We all had a fabulous holiday made even more enjoyable by the really lovely and comfortable house we called home for the week . It was a delight to walk into such a welcoming house after our long journey . The kitchen was very well equipped,( Welsh cakes awaiting on our arrival) the bedrooms were comfortable .....amazing nights sleep in luxurious cotton bedding. The lounge was so cosy when we lit the log burner after a days hiking along the cliffs . We were delighted when we returned after a walk one day to find more logs had been placed in the outhouse after it had appeared empty that morn

Ruth, Evesham

Ty Gwilym is stunning! The house offers everything you could possibly need and perfectly located in St.David’s, meaning you never really need to get in your car again once you’ve parked up! We especially enjoy this area in winter and the coastal walks are so beautiful and easily accessible. I cannot recommend this property highly enough.

Lucy, Hook, Hampshire

We stayed in this beautiful cottage with my parents and our two young children. It was so comfortable and beautifully decorated. We all slept so well–in fact my children slept better than at home!We cooked lots of meals in the kitchen which has every mod con you could ask for.The garden has a stunning view over the cathedral. The location of the cottage is ideal–central to the city so cafés and restaurants are just a stone throw away and supermarket and children’s park a five minute walk.We went on many beautiful walks around St.Davids from our doorstep. It’s a delightful cottage and location.

Carey, london

We had a lovely stay in this cottage. It is a beautifully decorated home with every comfort in mind. We were lucky with the weather so spent some heavenly hours sitting in the stunning garden. What a gem. We hope to return.

Location

The neighbourhood

The cottages are a minute’s walk from the centre of a city that is charmingly small and unashamedly old-fashioned. Discover craft shops, food shops, restaurants and pubs, including the Farmer's Arms on the same street. The 12th-century cathedral, the finest in Wales, hides down a hill, and wonderful beaches abound – Whitesands, Caerfai, Abereiddi. Coastal walks are a ten-minute drive.

Local points of interest from Hamish Elvidge

  • Whitesand Bay is a wonderful sandy beach within five minutes drive and is great for surfing and sandcastles!
  • St Davids Cathedral is the focal point of the city and must be visited!
  • Great restaurants (for example Morgans and Cwtch) are plentiful in St Davids and the surrounding area.
  • A trip around Ramsey Island cannot be missed, to see the seals and, hopefully dolphins!
  • Abereiddi and the Blue Lagoon create a very unique atmosphere.
  • Pothgain is a unique, beautiful harbour, which has a really good restaurant (The Shed) and pub (The Sloop)

Introducing

Hamish Elvidge

The owners are Linda and Hamish Elvidge, and Dawn Hughes is the meeter and greeter. A native of St Davids, she is friendly and informative, and fiercely proud of the three cottages she cleans and the garden she so meticulously tends.
