The Experience
The house, showcase of a French master craftsman, could be ancient but actually is fairly new. The salt water pool is a joy to float in and there’s a new terrace overlooking the lake – a grand place to take a book and a glass of wine while you gaze over the peaceful waters. Apart from the tower it’s all on the ground floor with three slightly different levels. The big sitting room has two cushion-strewn sofas around a log burner, the dining room end has a lovely long farmhouse table with room for at least 10.
Bedrooms, all with lovely views, are down here apart from the tower room up wooden steps. Each have mostly bare walls, natural materials and are very simple. An electric Aga warms the kitchen which has decent work space. You’re left some local wine and treats.
You’re down a narrow country lane which twists along the bottom of the valley so the feeling is quite remote – there is only one neighbour, but you can walk to the village.

We had the most wonderful stay at Judah Ravail. The rooms were so comfortable and clean. The living space had a beautiful big table, gorgeous cozy sofas, and a completely kitted out kitchen with a huge fridge and water filter. We enjoyed our days swimming in the fantastic new swimming pool, watching the sunset with a glass of wine on the terrace while all the children played cards and chilled out on the decking. All the furniture was band new, the sun lounges round the pool were gorgeous and the deck was kitted out with bean bags and outdoor sofas. We couldn’t recommend Judah higher!

Judah is a haven of tranquility. Surrounded by forest on a very quiet road, it is a place to go and stop, rest, have fun and forget the world. If you need to see life, the exquisite medieval towns, and brilliant restaurants, are only minutes a way. Equally nature comes to Judah to drink from the lake or sing in the trees. The owners are very responsive to any questions. The pool is perfect. The house is designed for comfort. We had a wonderful time.

We truly had a lovely stay at Judah with friends from Frankfurt. It’s completely private and peaceful and has a wonderful setting overlooking a little lake. Our children loved the pool and the two donkeys and we appreciated the cosy chairs on the terrace and next to the pools for hours of relaxing reading. We will certainly be back...

Location
The neighbourhood
Sainte-Sabine-Born village (10-min walk) has a restaurant and spa, bakery, children's play area and football pitch. Canoeing on the Dordogne is endless fun, drifting past vast châteaux, monuments and villages built on the river's edge, or on the cliffs above it. There are many cycle routes on the doorstep including some official ones along the river. Beaumont is ten minutes by car.
Local points of interest from Jessica Cannell
- The house sleeps 11 but is ideal for up to 9 people or 2 families. It is an old farm house. It has two super king beds with Emma mattresses and two queens. One is ensuite . Bathroom 2 has a shower and toilet. There is a separate toilet and an outdoor shower
- The house wifi is excellent, there is also a VPN, English channels. There is a study area on the mezzanine if you need to work. The village has a football pitch and a great restaurant and spa, all walking distance. There is a garden full of wildlife.
- The salt water pool is heated 15x6m. This year we are adding a small pitch golf course around the lake for children to practice on. We will also add fish and basic fishing gear for guest usage.
- In the house there are details for - Excellent adult and child go karting in Bergerac. No booking, just turn up. The local Go- Apes, The Via Ferrata at Marqueyssac Gardens . Giant inflatables Horse riding, local golf courses and Vineyards.
- All the Dordogne activities are just 30 mins north – castles, kayaking, brilliant flat cycle routes and beautiful bastide towns. Issigeac and Monpazier, Beaumont and Villereal are much nearer and great for markets day and night.
- You can fish in our lake. You can use the inflatable boats on the lake on request. Bikes are also available on request. It is very peaceful and enclosed except at the drive entrance - no gate. we do have a local vet and can share details if needed as well

Introducing
Jessica Cannell
Jessica and her family are based in Oxfordshire and are the main contacts for guests. This is their holiday home too and they and their four children love it. They hope you do too and they have a local English speaker to welcome you.
An absolute gem! Perfect for a big family of all ages plus a dog! Secluded tranquility, in absolute rural heaven. Beautiful grounds, views and interiors. The views across the little lake are gorgeous- from morning to night! Although we didn’t catch a fish, we loved seeing the deer using it as a watering hole most nights! If you are looking for a week in total peace and quiet- you’ve found the right place!
