The Experience
Your delightful hosts have combined the best of modern design with old French charm and travellers’ treasures to create a thoughtful elegance and different moods in each room. Fabulous Dordogne views top it all off and help to make this handsome 17th-century house special. Bedrooms full of light, originality and comfort lead to excellent bathrooms.
The living and dining rooms breathe the simplicity and warmth of glowing wood against old stone. On fine days you take breakfast on the view-filled terrace: freshly baked bread and viennoiseries, homemade jams, seasonal fruits. Dinner is offered three times a week and ingredients are local and organic whenever possible – Stephanie holds cookery courses and truffle weekends in winter.
Take a hot air balloon ride from the garden, over the river and the magnificent châteaux along its banks – even if you don’t go up it’s a magnificent sight. The nearest restaurant is just across the field.

We stayed for 4 nights and would have stayed longer if there had been availability. It was a good choice. The house has been beautifully renovated to a high standard and our room was light and spacious with a lovely view. The dining room is spacious (with more splendid views) and tea and coffee are available throughout the day. The sitting room has lots of seating, books to browse and an honesty bar. It's really nice to have somewhere to relax, especially if the weather isn't great. We had as many dinners as we could book and wished we could have eaten in every evening.

This is a wonderful old Périgord farmhouse with glorious views over the Dordogne river valley. It has been sympathetically and lovingly restored by its enthusiastic owners. Rooms are stylishly and inventively decorated. Stéphanie is a lively and welcoming host, full of helpful suggestions for places to visit - the châteaux at Milandes and Commarque are not to be missed. She will also guide you to some of their favourite places to eat or, on other evenings, prepare an excellent dinner at Les Hauts. Breakfasts are equally delicious. Truly a memorable stay in a very special place.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable time here. Stephanie gave us a very warm welcome and nothing was too much trouble. It is in a wonderful position looking across the Dordogne to the Chateau de Milandes (well worth a visit) and is very conveniently situated for visiting many other interesting paces - Sarlat, Beynac, Domme, La Roque Gageac, the gardens of Le Manoir d'Eyrignac, the gardens at Marqueyssac, and Limeuil, to mention just a few.

The neighbourhood
Local restaurants are La Petite Tonnelle (1.7km) and L'Atelier d'Epicure (7.5km). Beynac is a bustling riverside village with lots of food shops, an excellent restaurant, Lou Toupi, and access to the river. Here you can canoe, paddle board, go on boat trips or simply sit and admire it. There is a market on Mondays in high season and an unmissable market in Saint-Cyprien on Sunday mornings.

Introducing
Fabrice & Stephanie Berbessou
Fabrice and Stephanie live in another part of the house with their fox terrier. They have completely renovated what was an abandoned farmhouse and turned it into this shining B&B. Stephanie is an excellent cook and it is Fabrice who will whisk you off in his balloon should you desire.
This stone house is beautiful inside and out. The communal areas and bedrooms are furnished tastefully with mid-century and vintage furniture whilst the bathrooms have reclaimed baths and sinks. There is incredible attention to detail. Free tea and coffee are available at all times, there's reasonably-priced wine etc for sale and a Nespresso machine and carafe of water in the bedroom. The food is delicious: sourced locally and home-made. The toiletries are eco-friendly and the whole house has a Green Key eco-tourism certificate. Thank you to Stéphanie and Fabrice -we loved our visit.
