The Experience
What a marvellous spot – part of a neighbourhood filled with artisan shops and excellent restaurants (one with a Michelin star), yet near to the centre. This substantial Bordelais townhouse has a tasteful modern extension at the rear and there’s plenty of room for relaxing indoors; each bedroom has a seating area plus telly, and there’s a lounge area beside the breakfast room. Or find a roost in the garden with the resident fluffy bunny.
Prepare your own breakfasts and light meals, or enjoy Maria Luisa’s homemade organic granola and yogurt, pastries from the local bakery, cheese from the shop around the corner, eggs and charcuterie if you ask. Settle on a hammock, or take a dip in the small refreshing pool, sip a glass of wine from the honesty fridge.
Bedrooms, three in the house and two in the extension, have large comfortable beds, soundproofing, air conditioning and tasteful furniture. Explore on foot, by bike or hop on the tram.

Location
The neighbourhood
Hire bikes – there's safe storage and it's a great way to see further afield if you don't bring a car. You're just ten minutes by bicycle from the quays and Pont de Pierre and 20 minutes from Gare Saint-Jean. Sylvain has created maps with lots of information for cyclists. Visit the famous vineyards and the coast around Arcachon, take a food tour of the local area.
Local points of interest from Maria Luisa & Sylvain
- Our local shortcut to Bordeaux wine country: Château Pape Clément and Château Smith Haut Lafitte are both within 10km. The latter even hosted King Charles. For the classic postcard experience, continue on to Saint-Émilion.
- Take Tram D to Quinconces in 10 minutes and explore Bordeaux's UNESCO-listed centre on foot. Our 90-minute route links 15 landmark squares, churches and riverfront sights, with plenty of cafés along the way.
- Follow our self-guided neighbourhood food trail: choose aged Comté at Fromagerie des Loups, taste hand-picked wines at POC La Cave, then stop at Bordeaux's oldest Michelin-starred restaurant, Le Pavillon des Boulevard for a south west culinary experience.
- At the Cité du Vin, explore wine through a playful, multisensory exhibition, then enjoy the panoramic tasting upstairs. Cross the road afterwards for lunch at the Halles de Bacalan food market.
- Arcachon Bay and the Dune du Pilat make a memorable day out, with oyster villages, pine forest, Atlantic beaches and the Cap-Ferret peninsula.
- Bordeaux is easy to explore by bicycle. We share favourite routes and provide secure bike storage, a repair kit and facilities for cycling guests.

Introducing
Maria Luisa & Sylvain
Marketing and IT consultant Sylvain and musician Maria Luisa opened up the house in 2022 with a love of heritage, gardening, history and wine. Maria Luisa is multilingual and loves to chat to her guests. They share their house with two cats, and the beautiful garden with a lop-eared rabbit called Monsieur Pompon. Their house displays local street artists' work.
