The Experience

A cosy hideaway just for two, set in the courtyard of a magnificent château. Your British hosts are rescuing the estate from total neglect after discovering it on a cycle ride. They have since learned that the tower was once a toll booth for river traffic and home to pirates who plundered passing ships laden with Cahors wine.

Today, all buccaneering traces have vanished and bucolic bliss unfolds all around you: vines and scented gardens, birdsong and the gentle murmur of the river. The chapel is quietly opulent, with original stone floors, beamed ceilings and stained-glass windows living harmoniously alongside a small but handy kitchen and air conditioning for the warmer months.

Take the handcrafted spiral staircase up to your four-poster bedroom, where a breakfast balcony overlooks a 450-year-old cedar of Lebanon. Read by the pool, wander the woods or tuck into a generous welcome hamper. The owners have plenty of local tips to share.

Reviews

A real special little gem of a hideaway for a couple, to stay in an atmospheric chapel surrounded by nature, yet such a lot to discover in the area!

A perfect getaway in SW France. The Chapel was comfortable and well equipped with a thoughtful welcome basket that set the tone for a relaxing stay. We stayed in October and the weather was fantastic. The heated pool and poolside bar made it easy to unwind and the ensuite facilities added extra convenience for lazy days. The surrounding villages were beautiful and Jon and Carmen were very welcoming with great recommendations for restaurants, although Carmen's cooking often made eating out unnecessary. A peaceful, memorable break that was a real hoot!

Alice, Paris

Beautiful stay in the Chapel, the space is sympathetically furnished and decorated and has everything you need to relax (the pool is a major plus!). Jon and Carmen are excellent hosts who were always around if we had any questions.

We stayed in The Chapel for 5 days and we couldn't have been happier with our choice. There was everything we needed, and the kitchen was well equipped. It was extremely well finished and in keeping with the history of the chateau. We were extremely impressed with the pool - it was our favourite element of the property as it was so private and incredibly spacious. We liked that we could walk to the local shops, but we highly recommend driving out to see Chateau de Bonaguil. Jon and Carmen were extremely helpful and couldn't do more to make our stay really wonderful. We will be back!

Emma, Buckinghamshire

We had such a wonderful stay at this beautiful château in France. The location is absolutely stunning—peaceful, scenic, and full of charm. The property itself is gorgeous, with so much character and attention to detail. One of the highlights was definitely the pool—perfect for relaxing and soaking up the surroundings. We also had the unique experience of staying in the chapel on site, which was absolutely beautiful and added something really special to our visit. Everything felt calm and well-maintained, making it easy to unwind and enjoy every moment. We would love to come back x

Introducing

Jon & Carmen Parker

Carmen and Jon are keen cyclists who ran a cycling café in the UK. In 2019, on one of many cycling trips to France, they stumbled upon an abandoned château that stole their hearts. They have settled into French country life with aplomb and are dedicated to renovating the castle sympathetically with antiques, vintage chandeliers, rugs and brocante finds that complement its history.
