The Experience

Gather your nearest and dearest for a proper seaside holiday in this roomy old house with oodles of mod cons – it’s a very handy base. There’s much space in the living room with high ceilings and light flooding in, doors to the garden and fabulous sea views. The kitchen is a joy for cooks, everybody can join in and you’ll find all the kit you need. Eat indoors at the big wooden table or outside on the patio – on balmy evenings you can light the barbecue and sizzle something delicious while children play games on the lawn.

Bedrooms (two downstairs and two on the second floor) are bright and fresh, all with ocean views and snazzy bathrooms – there’s an extra loo downstairs too. It’s a five-minute walk downhill to a sandy beach for swimming, picnics and watery fun.

Plougasnou centre is a short walk. It’s a small town which feels like a village with a church square, many shops, restaurants, a café and two boulangeries – one of which sells the best ice creams for miles.

We think you'll love

  • The fabulous views, fresh air and sandy beach – it's a really good spot for those who like to be by the sea
  • Having so much space indoors and in the garden – you'll never feel on top of one another

Reviews

Perched on the heights overlooking a quiet sandy beach, this gorgeous family home offers bright, spacious rooms and sea views at every turn. The open-plan living space is ideal for cooking together while the kids run in and out of the garden, or for a group of friends to spend hours enjoying a meal, watching the waves. An ideal base for lazy beach days or exploring this historic part of Brittany.

Location

The neighbourhood

Walk into town in ten minutes for a bar, café, crêperie, boulangeries and some good restaurants. Market day is Tuesday morning – pick up lots of local goodies to bring back. History lovers will head to the Cairn de Barnenez, 4km, for a Neolithic burial chamber. There are lots of other cities to explore nearby and Locquirec is a 12-minute drive for more places to eat.

Local points of interest from Patrick & Sylviane Peter

  • While staying in Plougasnou you can enjoy both the seaside and countryside. The house is located halfway between the village and the beach and both are within walking distance.
  • There are many interesting spots to practise sports in the area – hiking, fishing, sailing, surfing, tennis, horse riding...
  • The village has many local food shops and other shops (e.g. books and news store), a tourism office and a hairdresser. Each day there's a market in the neighbouring villages where you can buy local produce.
  • The house is on one of the few 'green roads' along the sea. The village has a lively atmosphere but it isn't a seaside resort, so it doesn't overcrowded during the holidays.
  • There are many interesting places to visit nearby such as the unmissable 'enclos paroissiaux' which are on their way to being listed by UNESCO, charming coastal towns like Locquirec and Carantec, and the city of Morlaix.
  • Morlaix (18km) has a train station and a private plane airport. There is a public airport in Brest (70km).
