The Experience
Sociable souls will be happy here with table d’hôte dinners (off season) and twice weekly barbecue soirées in the summer where all the guests mingle and chat. Breakfast is served in a big salon with a fireplace for chillier days: apple juice from the orchard, jams from nearby Quiberon, charcuterie, locally-baked breads and patisserie, homemade lemon cake and English scones. On rainy days you can play board games, table tennis or piano, choose a book from the library, laze in the pool and sauna.
The house is surrounded by 6 hectares of fields and forest for cycling (there are bikes to borrow) or lovely walks – the only sound will be the odd tractor and a lot of birdsong. The brave can canoe in the moat or bring a rod and try for carp. A boules pit is fun in the cool of the evening with a sundowner.
Large, west-facing bedrooms on the first floor have views over an orchard, sturdy beds with good linen and magic-mirror TVs.

We stayed at the Manoir du Guern with my husband and son for a few days. We Were amazed by this bucolic place. The Hosts (Frédérique and Bernard) are very accommodating. They gave us advice about the sites and walks in the region. We slept marvelously, then woke up to a delicious breakfast and enjoyed the indoor swimming pool. My husband and son even did a little kayaking on the moat surrounding the Manoir.

Location
The neighbourhood
Seemingly remote, it's less than a mile from the busy little village of Pluvigner for a bakery, bar, church and shops. There are good restaurants in the port of Auray, 20 minutes in the car. It's a picture-perfect town with lots of shops, timber houses in the old part and a stunning bridge. Other Morbihan towns and villages like Vannes, Josselin, Carnac and Quiberon are all within an hour's drive.
Local points of interest from Bernard Baudoin

Introducing
Bernard Baudoin
Bernard and Frédérique live in another part of the house but will meet and greet you, serve your breakfast, cook supper when they're doing it (their speciality is the locally-reared lamb) and look after you brilliantly. They bought the Manoir in 2017 and spent three years restoring it, hoping to bring the house back to all its grandeur without losing its authenticity. It's a triumph.
We spent a relaxing 3 days at The Manoir du Guern. Bernard & Frederique Baudoin were welcoming and charming hosts. The renovations to the Manoir are both stylish and attractive . There are 2 well appointed Gites, one with direct access to the pool and sauna , the other with outside space overlooking the moat. We had one of the chambre d'hote rooms very comfortable , Apple TV, Wifi and beautifully appointed bathroom. Breakfast was very generous, coffee and tea ad lib. Our hosts the Baudoin's speak very good English, could not have been more helpful and we hope to be able to pay another visit
