The Experience

This charming 19th-century farmhouse is set outside a hamlet in the Gers countryside and has a peaceful home-from-home feel and 360-degree views over the undulating countryside. Graeme and Kirsty live in a small cottage on the other side of a large hedge with a separate drive and are available if needed, but otherwise will leave you in peace.

One of the bedrooms (and a bathroom) is downstairs and a further three are upstairs. The well-equipped kitchen has a table and chairs for eight, and doors leading out onto a sheltered terrace where you can congregate to chat or eat in the shade or head to the sitting room with a book for some peace and quiet.

The gardens are the real wow factor and Graeme’s pride and joy, with large lawns and plenty of seating areas, some right outside the house or next to the heated saltwater pool, and you’ll find two barbecue areas and a pizza oven too.

Reviews

Thank you for this slice of heaven such a beautiful and tranquil piece of land with a very beautiful house that is furnished to a very high quality. Cheers from a very relaxed Anne from Tadley, Hants UK.

Anne, Tadley

The farmhouse is beautifully renovated, the kitchen is well equipped, all mod-cons, great wifi. The pool is fantastic! The location is relatively remote, in a peaceful spot nestled between two very small villages. We made a couple of day trips to the Pyrenees, although most destinations in the mountains are a couple of hours drive each way. Graeme and Kirsty stay next door (next house along) and were never intrusive but were available to help when we needed it, and have a wealth of local knowledge to share. Thanks both for helping make it an awesome and memorable holiday for all of us!

Most excellent host. Graeme is lovely and operates an excellent holiday farmhouse, kitted out with everything you need. The property itself sits in an elevated positioned surrounded by peaceful farmland and countryside with amazing views. The property is very private and has use of a well placed pool. Would highly recommend to those in search of peace and tranquility at an affordable price. Will definitely stay here again if I travel to Sud Ouest France!

Guests will be assured of a warm welcome in this homely, well-furnished Gascon farmhouse with comfortable bedrooms. A thoroughly relaxing place with an exceptionally lovely garden with fabulous views. You won't want to leave! Or when you do, you will be chilled and reposed.

We has the most wonderful stay at APuntos, when we arrived it was better than we had imagined from the photos. The house was spotless on arrival and Graeme kindly left us bread, milk and jams for our breakfast. The beds were very comfortable, and the bathrooms very clean. The house is really well equipped with garden games, two barbecues, as well as a very well equipped kitchen. The garden surrounding the house is very pretty, and well maintained, with different seating areas and dining areas laid out for different uses. The pool is fantastic, very clean and maintained every day during our sta

Location

The neighbourhood

This is a very rural spot and the house stands alone off a small lane apart from Kirsty and Graeme's cottage next door. Restaurants are about a 15 to 30-minute drive, and the local farmer's market (Saturday mornings) is a 10-minute walk. There are endless opportunities for wonderful walks and cycles in the mountains, pretty villages to explore and markets for buying local produce.

Local points of interest from Graeme Fletcher

  • There three airports within 1.5hrs drive of A Puntos: Lourdes-Tarbes (50 minutes), Pau (75 minutes) and Toulouse (90 minutes).
  • There is a market every day in the Gers and the local markets of Trie Sur Bias and Mirande are especially close. Wander through the bustling markets and fill your shopping basket with fresh local products.
  • The Pyrenees mountains are only an hour away and you can hiking, canyoning, cycling, white water rafting, skiing or even visit one of the spas. Balnea being our personal favourite.
  • At the nearby lake of Castlenau Magnoac, you can hire kayaks, stand up paddles or simply just relax on the white sandy beach. There is also an inflatable assault course.
  • There is a reasonable golf course within 20 minutes of the house with a very nice restaurant.
  • You will need to drive but there are plenty of restaurants in the area to meet all your culinary needs. From the high end Sandikala French fusion restaurant to a local wood fired pizza joint that does takeaway, there is something for everyone.
