The Experience
Gather the clans and come for much space and beauty. The estate is built into the side of the valley with the rugged beauty of the Lot laid out below – red squirrels scamper about, woodpeckers flit and a fountain gently bubbles. Interiors are graceful and extremely comfortable: two large sitting rooms in the house and Tower, another in the barn looking over the vines – there’s plenty of room for you to spend time together, and blessed escapes for those who prefer a bit of peace now and then.
Bedrooms, all view-filled, have immaculate beds with crisp linens; bathrooms sparkle and the peace is deep. The big kitchen in the main house is the perfect spot for preparing big family meals – there’s all the kit you need to cook (or a food delivery service can be arranged) and you can eat out on either terrace or in the family dining room.
Choose between two pools, play tennis, croquet or ping pong, even better light the fire pit on the river bank and launch a canoe or yourself into the calm waters flowing past.

Location
The neighbourhood
The nearest town, beautifully preserved medieval Marcilhac, is a six-minute drive, and has a bakery, grocers shop and café and there is an organic farm shop just up the road in Brengues. Larger Cajarc, a 15-minute drive, has a good Saturday market, restaurants and local shops for groceries and wine, as well as a big supermarket.
Local points of interest from Deirdre McGlone
- Relocating from Ireland, we love sharing the Lot region. With Deirdre’s Concierge Services, we help plan your perfect holiday, offering insights on attractions, restaurants, vineyards, and markets.
- LOCAL MARKETS - Discover lively local markets full of fresh food, wine, and French treasures. Don’t miss Cajarc’s Saturday market, followed by a tasting with Laurent at Au Fil des Saisons. In summer, there’s a market every day of the week.
- WEDNESDAY APÉRO - Join us for Apéro under the trees in our spiral vineyard. Taste local wines as Patrick, our winemaker, shares Le Moulin’s story. We’re delighted to mark our first harvest at Le Moulin and look forward to sharing its history with you.
- DAY TRIP TO SAINT-CIRQ-LAPOPIE - Visit France’s most beautiful village, 29km away. Stroll Saint-Cirq-Lapopie’s streets or walk along the river. Continue to Cahors for a Château de Haute-Serre tour and tasting of their award-winning wines.
- Célé River Wild Swimming - The Célé is calm, gentle and perfect for a cooling dip on warm days. Find a quiet spot along the bank, slip into the water and enjoy the peaceful rhythm of the valley, just minutes from Le Malbec.
- Lot Valley Cycling - Quiet country roads, rolling hills and river views make the Lot and Célé valleys ideal for cycling. Several beautiful loops begin right from the door of Le Malbec.

Introducing
Deirdre McGlone
Your generous and fun-loving hosts, Deidre and Marc, met when they worked together in a high end hotel in Ireland. They turned it into a destination of great renown, before selling up to travel around France, eventually settling in this enchanting valley. They fell in love with the hamlet and are lovingly bringing each building back from ruin.
