The Experience
This handsome 1882 Château is surrounded by five peaceful acres of ancient trees and feels secluded and peaceful, although the town square is a few minutes’ walk away and you’re in a grand position for tracing the D-Day story.
The modern, light-filled apartments have well-equipped kitchens and thoughtful eco touches. Sandra lives on site and children will love collecting eggs from the hens, watching the ducks and geese on the ponds, or making friends with the sheep, goats and rabbits roaming about. After a day sightseeing or trawling the beaches, it’ll be bliss to jump into the pool and relax.
Walk, cycle or wander into the village for your morning croissants from the bakery, to stock up, or simply to have a coffee in a café, do some people watching and feel like a local.

Location
The neighbourhood
Ver-sur-Mer's little town square has a convenience shop, butchers, bakers and a small bar/café; the beach has a wild feel, with a nature reserve on the dunes home to several rare birds and plants. British troops landed on Gold Beach during the D-Day invasion and the America Gold Beach Museum pays tribute to them. The seaside resort of Courseulles, a 10-minute drive away, has good restaurants - try Le Catleya and La Maison Bleue - and a daily market where you can buy fish straight off the boats.
Local points of interest from Sandra Leconte
- Château Côte de Nacre directly neighbours the British Normandy Memorial in Ver-sur-Mer — the only accommodation with this unique position. Gold Beach is a 10-minute walk away.
- Built in 1882, this 19th-century château was requisitioned by German officers during WWII. Its grounds border the fields where local families lost their lives on D-Day, 6 June 1944.
- Five spacious apartments sleep 4 to 10 guests — the largest at 1,240 sq ft. Each overlooks the ornamental ponds, parkland or château courtyard. Original parquet floors and high ceilings throughout.
- Wander 4 hectares of private parkland where goats, rabbits, swans and chickens roam freely. Collect fresh eggs each morning. The heated pool is open year-round at 29°C.
- Arromanches Landing Museum: 13 min. Caen Memorial: 25 min. Omaha Beach: 37 min. Overlord Museum Colleville: 35 min. Bayeux Tapestry: 15 min. Ver-sur-Mer village with bakery & grocery: 300m.
- Many guests spend their days walking the landing beaches and visiting D-Day museums. Returning to the château each evening — children feeding the animals, everyone unwinding by the pool — creates lasting memories.

Introducing
Sandra Leconte
Sandra moved to Normandy from Paris in 2019 with her family and quickly got the apartments up and running. She is really welcoming and easy-going, and previously held a senior position in marketing which involved much international travel so speaks fluent English and Spanish. They live here with their beagle.
