The Experience
You’re surrounded by acres of fields and fruit trees and you can follow a trail all the way to the top of the hill. Deer roam the slopes, wildlife abounds and the nearest major road is distant, so the peace is profound.
Interiors are spacious and well lit with a comfortable sitting room full of games and books, a vaulted dining room, use of a well-equipped kitchen (help yourselves to tea and coffee), plus a sauna with views and a west-facing terrace. Four bedrooms, simple and spotless, have en suite showers or a bath and marvellous views.
Wake to viennoiseries, local honey and jams, hams, cheeses and eggs, the freshest breads. Alexis does a table d’hôte menu several evenings a week, or in low season you can order local cheese and charcuterie in advance. Spend your days hiking through glorious vistas, playing table tennis or pétanque, cooling off in the smart pool, finding a shady spot with a book, or just snoozing in the sun.

Location
The neighbourhood
You're in a small hamlet in the foothills of the Alps with a medieval chapel up the hill and no other buildings. Walks in the hills or down in the river gorges (a car drive away) will be most rewarding and not at all crowded. The nearest good restaurants are in Malmoisson, a ten-minute drive, or La Chouette Gourmande in Champtercier. Visit shops and a spa at Digne-les-Bains, 15 mins. There are good local markets.
Local points of interest from Marie Speth
- The Verdon Gorges: Rent a pedal boat, a kayak, or go hiking to admire the beauty of the gorges.
- Hiking: There are too many beautiful hikes so close to us to just pick one...however, we are hiking enthusiasts and happy to advise on the most beautiful hikes according to level and preferences.
- The Digne Thermal Spa was renovated in 2022, and offers an indoor and outdoor pool, as well as a jacuzzi, a hammam, a sauna and a solarium for complete relaxation.
- The Forcalquier Market: one of Provence’s biggest markets. Its speciality? It takes place every Monday, all year long, and throughout the entire town. Get there early to fuel up on coffee on a terrace before exploring the market.
- Haute-Provence Geopark: We are located at the heart of a geological reserve. Discover our interesting landscapes hiking, or visiting the Promenade Museum in Digne.
- Land Art: Discover Andy Goldsworthy's pieces of art in the middle of nature. We are lucky to have a full art collection hidden accros several spots on different hikes in our region.

Introducing
Marie Speth
Marie came here aged ten, when her parents restored the old village and converted the guest accommodation – they've been run as a B&B and gîtes since the mid-2000s but Marie and Alexis took over after her parents' retirement. They met while working in the hospitality industry and have travelled widely. Alexis, is a talented chef, Maria is a yoga instructor.
