The Experience
Emerging from glorious countryside, the sight of low-slung seating, colourful cushions and a garden full of flowers and fruit trees is an inviting introduction to a superbly stylish villa. And outdoors, by the fantastic pool, is where you’ll want to remain – in tranquillity, after a swim and a barbecue. Then pad back up terraces to gîte or studio, each classy and open-plan, mixing vivid Provençal colours with cool stone walls and immaculate tiles; rooms are airy and bathrooms, in wood or stone, are thoroughly luxurious. Children will love climbing the ladder to their mezzanine bedroom; they can stroke the friendly chickens and collect eggs too! The kitchens are equipped with all that a chef needs after a day exploring the Côte d’Azur; the gardens have lots of little places to eat and sit – stone tables and recesses for an apéro, dinner, card games – and are beautifully illuminated at night. This villa is imbued with the grace and impeccable taste of Carole and Max; so fine was his handiwork on the reproduction stone it resembles the craftsmanship of medieval Saint-Jeannet, a 15-minute stroll.

We stayed in the poolside house with our 2 sons aged 4 and 7. We thoroughly enjoyed the property and its fantastic amenities. Carole was an excellent host, very warm and welcoming, with lots of advice whenever we needed it. The house is lovely, spacious and very comfortable. The garden was beautiful with lots of shady areas provided. We spent most of our time in the pool which is wonderfully clean and safe. St. Jeannet is a beautiful village, lots of other beautiful places to see in the surrounding area. My sons have fond memories of Villa L'Escallinado and are very keen for a repeat stay!

My family of four had a really lovely stay at Villa I'Escalinado for one week. We were in the pool house which was well very equipped and confortable. The main draw has to be the HUGE pool we which we had to ourselves, The website photos don't do it justice. as it's much bigger than I imagined, really deep and perfect for diving. Carole was warm and friendly and helpfully advised us on local places to eat and visit. Really perfect spot for a relaxing holiday whilst being close to local shops and the all the sights of the Monaco, Nice and villages of Provence. Thank you!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Studio, which is delightful and quite spacious for 2. The balcony looks out over the hillside garden, dotted with oak trees, which has numerous different spaces for relaxing in including pool and petanque terrain. Carole was very helpful and friendly, and we would come again. The lovely village of St Jeannet has plenty of restaurants and fantastic views and is within walking distance. Recommended.

Accessed via meandering stone steps, we stayed in the Pool House with our 7 year old son who was thrilled with the mezzanine (although this probably wouldn't be suitable for younger children). The house has all the accessories you could need, however, a shower would have been a benefit for us, rather than the bath with a shower handset. The garden and pool are beautiful, extremely private and wonderfully scented, with the added spectacle of fireflies at night. It must be borne in mind that the pool is not heated should you stay outside the height of summer. A great base from which to explore.
