The Experience

La Maison de Lune is reached by its own lane and is surrounded by fields and truffle woods. The views are long and uplifting, stretching south towards the Luberon. It was once an old outbuilding – impossible to imagine now. It’s a great place for families, friends and all who have a love of real Provence. Spread over two levels, it has delightful bedrooms all with ensuite, and if you’re a hiker or a cyclist who likes laid-back luxury, you’ll find it all here. There are logs for fires and towels for the private saltwater swimming pool (which can be heated in cooler months), wicker chairs and limestone floors, an American fridge and elegant crockery, fans for summer, parasols for sun-loungers – air con too. The colourful, well-tended garden has lavender, rosemary, wisteria, cherry, almond, olive and fig; the pool is child-safe. Find amazing Roman sites in Arles, Orange and Vaison la Romaine, art and architecture in beautiful old Avignon, and shops, restaurants and market in pretty Bedoin – a stroll away.

Reviews

Peter and Sally, Canterbury

A charming property, tastefully decorated and practical. Lovely garden planted with aromatic herbs and a private pool. Very well situated in a rural location with views of Mont Ventoux but near enough to nearby village of Bedoin to be able to walk in on a quiet track for shopping and eating out at the many restaurants. We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and the English owners in the UK could not have been more helpful.

Anthony, Melbourne, Australia

This delightful and well appointed house, within the countryside yet near to a classic Provencal village, met all our expectations and provided everything we had hoped for, including views of Mt Ventoux. Our hosts were also excellent to work with. Just hope we can return before too long.

Andrea, Hertford

What an absolute gem! La Maison de Lune is a wonderful house, incredibly well appointed for a comfortable, fuss free stay. Private and wonderfully peaceful. Bédoin is a short walk away and there is lots to do in the local area. The market is a must! We enjoyed it so much that we’ve already booked for next year!

James, London

We have stayed at La Lune for the last five years over the summer. It is absolutely wonderful- from the lovely pool at the entrance through to the amazing terrace that overlooks the valley to the air conditioned bed room; all is stunning and makes the holiday so special. The local town is a 18 minute walk away through beautiful vineyards. Bedoin has something for everyone; cool bars and amazing restaurants that deliver wonderful meals using local produce. The wine is great too. We’ve already booked again for next year. In sum, the house is special, the area is beautiful.

Local points of interest from Sally & Peter Richardson

  • Bedoin is our local village and is typical of Provence. It is located at the foot of Mont Ventoux and boasts more than a dozen restaurants, three boulangeries and all the other essential shops you might need.
  • Mont Ventoux is synonymous with cycling and of course the Tour de France and cyclist come from all over the world to make the climb. It is also possible to drive up and on a clear day the view from the top is breathtaking.
  • The Bedoin Monday market is the highlight of the week in summer and offers a mouthwatering selection of fresh fish, cheeses, charcuterie and vegetables not to mention beautiful clothing, leather goods, local jewellery and pottery, all a short walk away.
  • We are fortunate enough to be close to some of the greatest wine growing regions of France including Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Cote de Rhone, Beaumes de Venise and of course our own local extremely good Cote du Ventoux.
  • There are vast number of activities for all members of the family ranging from tree trekking and kayaking to horse riding and golf all of which are described in more detail in our house notes.
  • Local historical places to visit include Avignon with its Palais des Papes, Orange and the music festival in the old Roman amphitheater, the Cistercian Abbey at Senaque, Vaison-la-Romaine, Arles, Aix-en-Provence and the remarkable Fontaine-de-Vaucluse.
