The Experience
A seriously seductive and peaceful spot: a handsome house in large grounds with olive groves, mulberry-shaded areas for outdoor living, and a heated saltwater pool. It’s on the edge of a small village (with excellent restaurant) and has fabulous views all around: Mont Ventoux to the north, Malemort and Venasque to the south. There are good walks and cycling from the door – you don’t have to tackle Mont Ventoux; food and antique markets, vineyards and Roman towns to visit. English owners know the area inside out and provide excellent info. Their tasteful renovation of the house has a Provençale-meets-English country house feel, in more and less formal spaces: beamed ceilings, apparent stone walls, an open fire; Peter Jones beds, family furniture, portraits and botanical prints. And there’s a fabulous, conservatory-style, real cook’s kitchen with a painted, rustic dining table. Bathrooms are bright and modern; bedrooms simply stylish and spacious, in restful colours – one’s lofty, up steep wooden stairs. The separate master suite has its own stairway and enviable roof terrace. Kindly Hubert greets guests and tends the garden.

Absolutely fantastic week staying at La Roque. I cannot express how exceptional the house is with its amazing views, lovely sized rooms, beautiful pool. Extremely well equipped kitchen with sliding doors, which felt as if you were cooking outside with the stunning view of the pool and surrounding hills. Serena was extremely helpful, leaving very clear details of sites to see, local restaurants, shops etc. I would highly recommend this house for up to 10 guests, it didn't feel cramped at all. Lots of space and in my opinion the photos don't do it justice. Definitely would consider going back!

La Roque is set in an idyllic location, with many paths to take the dogs through fields, woods and vineyards. The village is very pretty and peaceful. The house was very spacious, comfortable and catered well for our mixed aged party of ten, and the pool and dining areas looking out across the glorious provencal countryside were a particular highlight. Highly recommended!

We had the most wonderful week at La Roque, Blauvac. The villa is heavenly - crazy well equipped and easy to enjoy. The views are stunning and all participants enjoyed the local facilities and activities - including a memorable visit to La Calade in the centre of Bauvac. It was particularly hot when we were there, but I gather the plan is to install some AC. A special big thank you to Serena who owns La Roque - so kind and accommodating.

We have been to La Roque for 2 successive years. The location is excellent, perched on a hill overlooking vineyards and woodland. It is peaceful and an easy walk to Blauvac village with an outstanding restaurant. The House could not be more comfortable and spacious and is perfectly fitted out with everything you may ever need. All the bedrooms are ensuite and the main bedroom is particularly impressive with a large terrace and views. The pool is very good, is maintained, and of a perfect size to swim or relax in. The Housekeeper and team could not be more helpful and responsive.

Local points of interest from Serena White
- La Roque is on the edge of a stunning medieval village with panoramic views of Mont Ventoux. The main square is 5 minutes walk from La Roque with a medieval church and small restaurant/cafe, open seven days a week.Perfect for drinks or a three course meal
- So many markets! On Friday you have Carpentras, the largest in the region. On Sunday visit the Isle sur la Sorgue antique market, world renowned. Enjoy an aperitif at the evening market in Venasque (often seen in top 100 most beautiful villages in France).
- This is a cyclists paradise! Whether you are an elite cyclist keen to tackle Mont Ventoux or would prefer to rent an electric bike which will do some of the work for you, there is something for everyone. It is the best way to enjoy the stunning scenery.
- You are surrounded by vineyards wherever you look. If you love your wine why not visit one of the many famous vineyards within each reach. You have Beaumes de Venise, Vacqueyras, Gigondas, Chateauneuf-du-Pape to name but a few, All on your doorstep.
- For those who love sightseeing you are spoilt for choice. You have the Roman amphitheatre in Orange 30 min away. Vaison-la-Romaine, famous for its Roman ruins. See the Pont Du Gard whilst canoeing along the Ardeche or visit the Palace du Pape in Avignon.
- Or perhaps you would just prefer to relax in the countryside with a good book. La Roque has its own olive grove and is surrounded by 2 hectares of stunning countryside overlooking a beautiful monastery. Perfect for those wanting to get away from it all!

Our second visit to La Roque yielded endless hours of September sunshine, the grape harvest in full swing and stunning views of Provence and the surrounding countryside. To be able to enjoy this in such comfort is a testament to the beautiful house and garden that Serena and family have created and that we were able to enjoy to the full with our friends (including the canine variety!). The many hours spent in the salt water pool were a personal highlight. As noted by others, Serena and Nathalie work very hard to ensure that every visit is a success. Thank you!
