The Experience
Guests have called Le Saule “a little treasure”. And we know that the Trunnets’ smiles are genuine, their converted outbuilding handsome and perfectly finished (down to mosquito nets on windows), the ground-floor rooms solidly traditional, the beds excellent, the dayroom proud of its beautiful armoire, and you get your own little table for breakfast.
Tuck into home-baked croissants, fresh baguettes, yogurts and homemade jams from locally-sourced fruit. On Sundays Ana keeps the tradition of making her own tarts just like her mother-in-law used to. Madame looks after her guests beautifully and recommends you pop into the charming village of Montreuil-sur-Mer (6kms) for evening meals, especially Le Piccolino pizzeria. You’ll also find ramparts to explore, beautiful old houses and churches, tea rooms and good brasseries.
One guest proclaimed this “the best cowshed I’ve ever stayed in” and people return time after time.

This was our third stay here, so we obviously like it! The family are always welcoming and friendly, offering tea/juice on arrival, and letting us store our bikes in their barn overnight. The rooms are comfortable, the wifi works, and breakfast is fab. It's ideally located for an overnight stay if you're crossing the Channel at Calais, whether you're heading home or away on holiday, and there are good restaurants nearby in Montreuil. We'll be staying again...

what a delightful B&B. Anna made us very welcome, even though we arrived late in the evening. As has been reported here before, breakfast was superb, with home made Jams and Tarts (stay on a Saturday or Sunday for these!)

Location
The neighbourhood
There are nice walks for you and your dog on the marshes near the farm, or along the river which you can fish and kayak. Visit the beautiful Cistercian Abbey in Valloires ( 15 mins) or wander the gardens. Further afield you can find Cap Gris-Nez and Cap Blanc-Nez for wonderful hiking in the hills overlooking the sea and a big seal colony to observe. The train station is close by the farm.
Local points of interest from Trunnet Family
- Behind our farm, there is a nice walk along the river "La Canche" and near the marshes, you can meet ducks and swans, but also people kayaking in the fast current of the river or fishing the trout. There is a watermill that makes local flour.
- The second "most beautiful village of France" in 2016, Montreuil-sur-Mer, is only 6 km from Brimeux. You can walk around the ramparts, the historical citadel, or on the paved, small streets, and enjoy a nice meal in a brasserie or a gastronomic restaurant.
- Le Touquet-Paris-Plage, a four-season and elegant resort provides an exceptional setting to relax, with the charms of both the sea and the forest. A universe for leisure, sport and health with a convivial atmosphere on the fine sandy beaches.
- Somme Bay, only 45 km from Brimeux, is one of the most beautiful bay in the world! It has inspired both painters and writers (Degas, Corot, Jules Verne, Colette) and is home to several species of migratory birds and the largest colony of seals in France.
- The Cistercian Abbey in Valloires ( 15 min from Brimeux) was founded in the 12th century and has been converted over the centuries, now offering a perfect tranquil setting for rest and meditation. The gardens have magnificent roses in mai and june.
- Nampont St Martin Golf Club was built around a 15th century château and combines woodland and open country on the banks of the Authie river. Swans, herons, ducks and many species of birds accompany you as you play.

Introducing
Trunnet Family
The farmhouse has been in the family for 4 generations. The Trunnets started their guest house in 1996, with only one room at the time. In 2002 they acquired a second, bigger room. Ana took the business over in 2005 while she was pregnant with her first daughter, and dealt with the guest house on her own while her husband was working in the fields. She's got it down to a fine art now.
Our family had the most wonderful time at La ferme du saule! Nothing was too much trouble and I cannot thank them enough for waiting for us until midnight as our eurotunnel had a three hours delay. The family suite was brilliant, more than we even expected! The boys loved it and we were able to have a Yorkshire tea on arrival at midnight! That was truly the cherry on the cake! We cannot wait to go back and stay longer to explore properly as it looks so pretty. A huge thank you for your wonderful acceuil and your kindness!
