The Experience

An organic working estate, surrounded by olive groves with a spa-like calm and sense of seclusion – the whole point of being here is to unwind. Manicured lawns give way to a fine terrace, and breathtaking bougainvillea-framed views over village-studded hills to the sea (even better appreciated from the stunning infinity pool!).

Colourful rooms, all with their own private outdoor space, are sophisticated yet simple: open brickwork, marble basins, comfortable seating and beds. Kitchens are well equipped and fine for holiday cooking (hobs but no ovens). Bring a book or browse the library, slip into the pool, feel time go slow-mo to the serenade of the cicadas.

Wake to a light continental breakfast (fruit compote, croissants, coffee) if you don’t want to prepare your own. Pamela and Roberto can give you good tips for dining out, the surrounding hills promise superb hiking – and the lavish Ligurian coast is the shortest drive.

We think you'll love

  • Feeling romantic – reading poetry under the jacaranda tree, being encircled by nature
  • That the local villages are authentic and quiet even in the summer – you're far enough from the seaside
  • Splashing in the pool or heading to the beach for a day out with a picnic

Reviews

It's a serene and calm place and an ideal base for walks or biking in the Ligurian countryside. Imperia has a wonderful old town and there are small, hillside villages scattered around within a short drive but the nicest thing is just the simple, unpretentious ambiance of the estate which has two pools, lots of places to sit and read with views of the coastline from a far-off hill.

Location

The neighbourhood

The feel is remote and secluded, yet there are lots of small villages within a few kilometres. It's a short drive to a supermarket and food shops. Eat out at Sarri in Imperia or Equilibrio in Dolcedo – a Michelin-starred experience. There are superb walks from the door, and the nearest station is at Imperia. Head out to explore the unspoilt Ligurian coast.
