The Experience
Through handsome wrought-iron gates from a convent in Tuscany and up the winding drive to a beautifully restored villa, built for a 17th-century nobleman. Behind is a young vineyard, to the side a simple chapel, an enchanting place for a wedding. Whether you come in summer for pool and gardens, or winter for heated floors and log fires, there’s masses of space for a party.
Find two sitting rooms, seven bedrooms and three storeys linked by a dramatic circular stair, dazzling white walls, sweeping floors in pale terracotta, chunky wooden ceilings (some sloping, some with a chandelier), and elegant pale painted furniture. Good mattresses top antique bedsteads, cream sofas are deep, bathrooms are gorgeous.
The kitchen has plenty of bells and whistles, lots of staples and views over the gardens – spill out for splashing in the pool, happy al fresco meals or games of ping-pong and football on balmy days.

This is a lovingly restored former Monastery ideal for a stay with the extended family. There were 15 of us, all ages, and traits and the house was just big and small enough to give each one enough room and enough distance to come together whenever appropriate. Moreover the garden is a gem. Space for hours of games and lazing around. Wonderful trees and views into the countryside. The best part of it is the driveway. Tucked away below ground level it leaves both the house as well as the garden unspoiled by cars. The house is wonderfully located in the Marche region, off overpacked Tuscany ...

What an amazing place! It' s truly the perfect place to go to relax, enjoy the wonderful rural views and sample the Italian food and the local wines on offer. We had five days of sheer bliss. The weather in October was glorious, wall to wall sunshine. Milly has converted the monastery very sympathetically and it has a very comfortable, homely feel to it. I couldn't recommend it more.

We had the most perfect holiday here. This is really a home from home experience. Every thing we needed had been thought of, the attention to detail i was faultless. Beautiful house and gardens. My personal favourite were the cool bedrooms with the glorious views to wake up to. The big comfortable beds with crisp sheets, ensuring the most relaxing nights sleep. We settled into our holiday without a moments delay, our every need was catered for. We relaxed, we ate, we swam and sat with a drink as the sun went down over the vineyards talking over the day we had just had. Happy memories

A fabulous place for a holiday. We loved the imaginatively refurbished, spacious house, set in a peaceful garden, with excellent facilities and glorious panoramic views. This house has a soul and plenty of character, and was perfect for a big family get-together. The setting is truly gorgeous. It's hard to imagine a more beautiful region in the whole of Italy. We just hope we will have the chance to return one day.

We had a wonderful stay at Monastero di Favari. The villa is beautiful and comfortable and the surroundings tranquil with stunning views. We found fantastic restaurants and local markets nearby, but really didn't need to go out much as we were so happy staying where we were and using the pool.. The children all loved it too.

An exquisitely converted house, stunning views of Le Marche countryside from all points of the property, was the basis of a marvellous family holiday. Ages stretched from 7 to 70 and we all had the greatest time together at the Monastero and the surrounding area. You can feel the 'love', and the hard work, that has gone into creating a charming and beautiful 'home'. Thank you (and there is talk of going back soon !). Baci, Patrick and Wendy and Family.

Netjes verzorgd, uitstekend ingericht.

We had a marvellous, relaxing time in this exclusive, luxury villa. Everything, both inside and out, is maintained to the highest possible standards. It has every modern facility you could wish for with lots of space and is elegantly and tastefully furnished throughout. It is in a beautiful, peaceful location with stunning panoramic views in all directions. The extensive swimming pool and surrounding grounds are an additional bonus. A marvellous choice for a group or extended family to unwind and explore this relatively unknown part of Italy.

We discovered this gem of a property through a work colleague and had the most wonderful stay. Disappointingly, the weather was unseasonably poor but the property made up for this without a doubt. The space is large enough to comfortably accommodate four families but remains personal and resembles a luxury home away from home; a difficult blend to achieve. Highly recommend.

Location
The neighbourhood
There's ping-pong and football on the grass, golf on the craggy Conero peninsula (unlike Le Marche's gentle Riviera) and riding stables in Apiro. Restaurants are close. Explore the famous Frasassi Caves, head to numerous historic towns and villages like Cupramontana, Cingoli, Loreto with its stunning cathedral and Macerata. You're 45 minutes from the coast.

Introducing
Camilla Wood
The 350-year-old villa and chapel had been an abandoned ruin for 50 years before Camilla found it in 2006 and lovingly renovated it. The plan was to make this her European base and build a vineyard project, but she ended up moving back to England where she started business as an independent wine merchant. She loves the house and comes to visit whenever she can. Neighbours are there if you need them.
Monastero di Favari is a very special and uniquely beautiful retreat like home, perfect for an extended family holiday. Long lunches merging into suppers outside by the pool enjoying local wines, lots of laughter and feeling very lucky to be in this slice of heaven together. A holiday of a lifetime, very special memories made. So excited to discover this part of Italy and already want to come back.
