The Experience

Four miniature apartments inside three hobbit like original trulli – so many are reproductions but these are the real thing. Each has a little kitchen with table, cooker for light meals, organic olive oil and seasonal vegetables and fruit from the gardens. A double bed hides behind curtains and a single sits in an alcove, light comes from high up windows and the entrance door – you’ll feel cosy but they’re built to keep out the extreme heat in July and August.

Most of the time you’ll be outdoors. The gardens are a riot of pines, cypress, olive, herbs, roses and a fruit orchard. You breakfast in the veranda with a beamed roof and open sides: coffee cakes, tarts, fresh breads and jams, local stracchino or pecorino cheese, fruits in season. Sign up for a cookery class and learn to make orecchiette and foccaccia.

A five-minute walk takes you to Pizzeria Arboris Belli, or head to Alberobello (2.5kms) the heart of trullo territory.

Reviews

Located away from but close enough to the busy touristy town of Alberobello, it has the calm of the forest that is in, clean quiet air! Giulia goes out of her way to help you find local restaurants and attractions that complement their philosophy of local and sustainable. The breakfasts were next level, all fatta a casa using produce from the family farm. The welcome was warm and generous, and catered for all your travel need.

Janet, Melbourne

This is a really special place to stay. The Trulli have been beautifully restored and stylishly decorated. They have all of what you need. The outside space includes a patio to sit and have a drink, a lovely pool as well as really beautiful gardens which are lovingly managed. The welcome is warm and expert. Andrea and Giulia offer advice and information about places to visit. Giulia's breakfasts are fantastic including local food and cooking. It's a great base for visiting Alberobello (walkable) & drives to Locorotondo, Monopoli and Matera. We will return - here and to Puglia.

Martha, Abergavenny

Andrea has put heart and soul into reviving the multi-generation family property with its historic trulli dwellings for guests wanting a taste of the real Puglia. In this simple and natural setting guests can relax poolside, take morning walk in the cool neighbouring woods, bike to Alberobello, and come back for one of Nonna Maria's traditional meals (or cookery lesson in-house)!

Location

The neighbourhood

You're bordering the Selva-Alberobello for circular trails through the woods, jogging, walking or cycling - mountain bikes can be hired from the owners. Alberobello is an easy 20-minute walk for trulli-lined streets, superb restaurants serving the local specialities - Orecchiette o Fricelli al ragù, tagliatelle with mushrooms and chestnuts, rolled pork and veal, Puglian wine.

Introducing

Andrea Goffredo

Andrea inherited the family property from his grandfather, who grew up here. Andrea's passion for his heritage and for nature is evident, and after obtaining a degree in philosophy he returned with his partner Paola to his native Puglia. They dedicate their time to the land, the gardens and growing fruit and vegetables, their guests and sharing learned traditions from grandparents.
