The Experience
Much of your time will be spent on the terrace with its exotic Mediterranean vibe and lovely views over Matino with the sea stretching out into the distance. Sunsets from here will be sublime, especially with a cool glass of prosecco in your hand – bottle provided along with a few treats. With only four bedrooms (two suites and two standard doubles) the whole place feels hushed. Bathrooms are en suite and scented with lovely soaps and lotions.
The feel indoors is minimal and calm, with furniture, lamps and mirrors created by a local artist called Massimo Maci. The living spaces are filled with natural light and one features a beautiful cross-vaulted ceiling. Check out the honesty bar and settle in with a good book, or listen to the radio.
You’re just steps away from the main square and there is a good restaurant, Morusanza. Lovely to spend time wandering the little alleys and admiring the whitewashed houses.

Location
The neighbourhood
It's an exceptionally peaceful town, and at siesta time you wouldn't know there was anybody there at all. There are a few restaurants and bars, but if you want more action you can head to Gallipoli, 'the pearl of Salento'. Here you'll find history, mainly about the first world war (and a young Churchill) but also a choice of beautiful beaches, clubs, bars and many restaurants.
Local points of interest from Caroina & Aurelien
- Murusanza & Foscolo restaurants
- Baia Verde Beach - Long sandy beach with crystal-clear water
- Nardò, Santa Caterina & Santa Maria al Bagno - Lovely places to visit
- Watch the sunset from our rooftop terrace with an aperitivo
- Authentic local life in Matino
