The Experience
You should feel any tension melt away the moment you arrive at this charming escape hidden down cobbled streets in a sleepy hilltop hamlet, seemingly suspended over the valley. Originally one of the village’s five olive mills, the property fans out over three floors.
The entrance is striking, an atmospheric room housing the original mill stone. From here, step into the living room filled with books and family paintings. There are two cosy, beamed en suite bedrooms (one on a mezzanine) and a large and homely kitchen/diner leading out to the gorgeous garden. Perched on high, it’s a spot made for lingering, with long views over woodland and olive groves. Sip your morning coffee under the wisteria-covered pergola, read quietly or soothe your limbs in the hot tub.
Stroll into the tiny village for supper or nip to Magliano to walk along its mighty medieval walls and admire its 3000-year-old olive tree. Fine Tuscan beaches are close by.

Location
The neighbourhood
This corner of Tuscany still feels undiscovered. The Parco Regionale della Maremma is filled with long, sandy beaches and is home to myriad wildlife. You can spot flamingos wading at the WWF lagoon near Albinia (25km) 30mins, soak in hot springs at Saturnia (34kms) 49mins, and taste the famous Morellino red wine at Scansano (12kms) 22mins.
Local points of interest from Johnny & Elizabeth Petrucci
- Maremma is famous for its wild beaches (Parco Naturale della Maremma, Feniglia etc.) but there are several beaches where you can rent umbrellas, beds and have amazing food.
- Saturnia free hot spring waterfalls are just 30 minutes away.
- Medieval villages: as well as Pereta itself with its cobbled stone streets, breathtaking views and medieval walls, tower and gate, this area has many other beautiful towns worth visiting, from Pitigliano and Sovana to Talamone, Capalbio and Porto Ercole.
- Our area is world famous for its wine (Morellino di Scansano, Vermentino), oil, cheese and in general excellent food. There are several very good wineries and restaurants nearby.
- Peace and quiet: despite the very lively touristic coast areas, Pereta and the Frantoio will enchant you with its slow paced spirit and soothing landscape.
- Courses and classes: we can help organizing cooking classes, horse riding, basket weaving, sailing, kite surfing etc.
