The Experience

Once you see the towers of the castle, soaring above the trees on the edge of Monteroni, you know you have arrived. The grounds, aromatic with roses and lemons, are much-loved, and the outbuildings and chapel have been beautifully restored – imagine getting married here. The entrance is through an enchanting courtyard – pull the bell, open the doors, ascend the steps, and enter the home of the Fiorentini family. Beatrice and Andrea are warm, courteous and charming, as are their sons who manage the estate, allowing the parents to concentrate on the guests – and grow saffron! Inside is like stepping into another age: portraits, busts and paintings on pale stone walls, wrought-iron beds on polished cotto tiles, family furniture revived with fresh fabrics and colours, and a billiard room en route to the tower, from where you can gaze at the stars. Bedrooms, big, luxurious and in the main house, are named after family members who have lived here. And then there’s breakfast: Beatrice’s pastries, croissants and delectable grape jellies, Tuscan hams, and ricotta from the neighbouring farm.

All the reviews are so accurate of the wonderful, charming hosts Beatrice and Andrea and their charming son Giovanni. A warm welcome, lovely room and legendary breakfasts. What a pleasure to stay in such a historic castle and to listen to tales of bygone eras. Can't rate our experience high enough and we feel so honoured to have met such a wonderful family. Truly magical castello.

We had a wonderful stay with superb and charming hosts who couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming. The breakfasts were superb and the house is beautiful and interesting with some good local restaurants nearby and a short drive from Siena. We would highly recommend a visit and a tour of the castle, it really is a unique and fabulous place to stay.

Our family trip to Siena in July of 2016 was immeasurably enriched by having the good fortune to stay at the delightful Castello di San Fabiano. Andrea and Beatrice Fiorentini were wonderful hosts, ever-helpful with advice on navigating Siena and the Palio and what to see in the Tuscan countryside, and with arrangements for bicycle rentals and horseback riding. This was absolutely the perfect refuge for our family (including our two children, ages 10 and 15) after long days out and about. Breakfasts on the terrace were lovely, and our conversations with our hosts added so much to our visit.

We stayed in this wonderful castle a short drive away from Siena. Our hosts Andrea and Beatrice, and their son Giovanni were superb, attentive, warm, hospitable and knowledgable. Beatrice made the most wonderful cakes and we ate delicious breakfast in the most beautiful dining room with a terrace overlooking serene countryside. Andrea gave us a spectacular driving route around the Crete Senesi, taking in wonderful hill towns and made reservations at excellent restaurants for our family in near by Monteroni d'Arbia and in Siena. Our rooms were comfortable peaceful clean elegant. Perfection.

This is a fabulous place to stay. From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect. The castle is quiet, breakfast tasty with homemade jams, breads, butter and local meats. Hosts are extremely helpful with restaurant and winery reservations, also directions to where we wanted to go. Scenic routes to see the Tuscan landscape was appreciated. We had dinner, which was cooked on site by the owners and was delicious. We also had the guided tour of the castle which is priceless. The whole family is delightful, gracious and helpful.

The write-up is spot on. We just spent four nights at Castello Di San Fabiano and our hosts could not have been more gracious and generous. We learnt so much about the history of the Castello and the history and politics of the region. Their hospitality was wonderful. We enjoyed breakfast on the Jasmine infused terrace and a fabulous dinner in one night. The restaurant recommnedations they gave us were fabulous and their suggested itineraries around Tuscany provided for many hours of happy exploration. The sunset views from the tower were a treat. We only wish we could have stayed longer.
