The Experience

Come for the bustling town, with its shops, restaurants and daily fish and seafood market. The house, on three floors, is roomy and calm; there are three kitchens, all fully equipped and the one on the third floor is set up for barbecues and outdoor eating. You’re left a very welcome hamper of Portuguese wine, local cheeses, pastéis de nata and other treats.

Spread out indoors, play board games, find a quiet spot with a book – but mostly you’ll be outdoors: the courtyard has comfy sofas and a dining table; the terrace on the first floor a loggia and seating area among the statement plants; the next up has the plunge pool and, on the top, a sun terrace with bamboo shading.

Bedrooms have eclectic art, embroidered bedspreads and lovely views, the bathrooms (most with showers, one with a bath) have delicious-smelling soaps and lotions. You’re in the heart of the town yet curiously there’s very little noise.

This beautifully restored and stylish home wraps you into its embrace and shares a myriad of treasures with you. Relaxing on the terrace with breathtaking views across the rooftops towards the sea whilst just-caught fish sizzles on the barbecue, one can’t imagine a more perfect retreat. Just heavenly.
