The Experience

Designed for adults to relax and rejuvenate in peaceful surroundings, this intimate, orange blossom-scented retreat (with just three bedrooms) is run by Patrick and Christel, who go out of their way to make you feel pampered. From the Belgian chocolates waiting in your sumptuous bedroom to the pretty terraced nooks overlooking panoramic valley views, you’re invited to indulge.

Christel is a fantastic cook, and she sets you up for the day with a delicious spread of local and homemade treats –  something new each day. If you wish, you can simply stay put, slinking from the pool to your lounger, enjoying lunch (salads, pizza, sandwiches) and supper (more refined menus paired with wines.)

Delightful walks start from the door, leading to quaint towns and a reservoir rich with birdlife. Return to soothe in the sauna, book a massage, have your hair done, then sip an aperitif while soaking up endless views as the sun melts over the horizon.

Reviews

This area of the world is a wonderful place to visit, at the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, and scenically beautiful for all the senses. Christel and Patrick have created a very special destination here where you will feel pampered, cared for and special during every moment of your stay. Come to get away from the bustle of life and to leave seeing the world through refreshed eyes.

Location

The neighbourhood

You're only a few minutes walk into the small hamlet of Melegís, and another 15 minutes takes you to Restábal – both have authentic places to eat and Restábal's pretty terracotta church and winding streets are particularly idyllic. You're at the foothills of the Sierra Nevada range for skiing and hiking depending on the season, and the Andalusian coast is a half-hour drive.

Local points of interest from Christel Troch

  • Nestled in the tranquil village of Melegís, El Violin is a newly renovated, adults-only retreat boasting panoramic mountain vistas, a seasonal outdoor pool, and lush gardens - your perfect hideaway in Granada's most enchanting valley.
  • Your serene sanctuary awaits in air-conditioned rooms featuring a walk-in shower, complimentary toiletries, plush bathrobes, a hairdryer and a personal coffee machine - everything you need for mornings to start slow and evenings that linger.
  • Begin each day with a sumptuous buffet or à la carte breakfast - think golden pancakes, fresh seasonal fruit and freshly squeezed juices from our backyard, before setting off to discover the wonders around you. Hike or cycle scenic Valle de Lecrin trails.
  • Carve through the snowy slopes of Sierra Nevada, or lose yourself in the white-washed villages and timeless beauty of the Alhambra - adventure and relaxation await just beyond our doorstep.
  • Just a short 30-minute drive from El Violin Experiencia, you'll find the unspoiled beaches of the Costa Tropical. Unlike the crowded Costa del Sol, this stretch of coastline offers a more relaxed and authentic Andalusian vibe, with crystal-clear waters.
  • Whether you're carving a lazy beach day, a seafood lunch, or a refreshing swim in the sea, the coast is always within easy reach. Or whether you seek a romantic seclusion, active exploration or pure Andalusian charm, you'll find it all at El Violin.
