The Experience

Secluded terraces, soothing fountains, channels ferrying water everywhere. An almunia is a Moorish summer residence and there’s a distinctly Moorish feel to this hillside garden. The house stands in its own orchards, its white lines softened by groves of chestnut, olive and fig, its interiors a masterly mix of period and modern: traditional slate floors and contemporary art, leather chairs and woven hangings, arresting colours and lots of books. Beautifully finished bedrooms in the main house (the downstairs ones have superb terraces) smell deliciously of cherrywood and are lavishly equipped; bright kilims and ceiling fans add to the elegance. Two contemporarily gorgeous new rooms – whose picture windows embrace the view – cut into the hillside behind. From the vast rose-painted sitting room step out to admire the manicured lawns, the dramatic sweep of mountains and the valley below, enjoy the jazz during an immaculate dinner. A charming couple, José Manuel and Patricia run their house with intelligence and passion. Perfect for sybarites, 20 minutes from Granada yet tranquil and remote.

Wow! Thank you, thank you, Patricia and José Manuel . Thank you Sawdays. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Patricia met us on the entrance steps and then a tour of their Casa before showing us our room ..... beautiful! We had our own private terrace complete with two “relaxer chairs”, table and chairs and umbrella. Breakfast was a sight to behold, a possible 5 courses, served at the table after Patricia took us through the menu. That evening an equally delicious dinner served on the terrace. We’ve used Sawdays all over the world and this hotel was right up there in our estimation!

A perfect vacation place. So relaxing we went on long walks, read, napped and ate like Kings. We only went into Granada once as we were becoming aware of covid. But this delightful place was perfect for a hideaway. We ate dinner at the hotel, along with breakfast. The food was magnificent and the owner a first class hostess. They were kind to our dog and he got to play with one of their dogs every day. We will return and stay longer.

We had a wonderful stay at La Almunia Our welcome by Patricia was so informative and friendly We felt at home right away The breakfasts here are " amazing" - so much choice and the quality is second to none . We are B&B owners ourselves and I took away a few ideas from Almunia. Dinner was served in the dining room , drinks by the fire, and excellent food. Tha staff are very friendly you can tell that this is a happy place to work - and even more so to spend a few days off the beaten track yet not far from great scenery and of course Granada. We will certainly go back .

Lovely hotel, well worth the challenge of the narrow approach road. Great welcome and made to feel at home. Superb dinner.

The hotel is perfect. The location is fabulous, the rooms are a very high standard and spotlessly clean. The most comfortable bed we have ever slept in. The food was delicious - with a wide variety of choices for breakfast. Last and certainly not least the hosts, owners Patricia and Jose along with Maria were lovely - they made you very welcome and looked after your every need. Would highly recommend for couples.

Stunning location, beautifully appointed, helpful staff and delicious food. Not to be missed.

This is such a special place that it is tempting not to make recommendations to avoid being unable to get a room next time. Patricia and Manuel have created a tranquil, and stylish environment complete with fragrant gardens and wonderful service. Food is prepared by Patricia for those guests who wish to dine and the best of local produce is used in creative ways to produce a wonderful eating experience. We dined on the scenic terrace looking down across spectacular views. Rooms were charming and styled with character and imagination. We loved the private terrace and sense of relaxation.
