The Experience
The east terrace is the spot for breakfast in the morning sun admiring the waves pounding below you – the fortunate spot dolphins. The heated pool is picture perfect with the sea as its backdrop, succulents and bougainvillea exploding with colour, pine and carob giving scuttle room for the over-heated. A big dining table, an outside kitchen and barbecue mean evening meals will be no more arduous than hurling some fresh fish onto the coals and rustling up a salad.
You’ll mostly be outside, but on the rare occasions when it rains it’s homely and inviting inside, with candles, books and games. Bedrooms have tall windows and doors leading to Juliet balconies, with plenty of light and views over sea or garden.
Start your day with a walk into town for the beach and a swim, stock up at an organic farm shop nearby, hire kit and have a go at different water sports before lunch with local wine at one of the little restaurants.

I had the most unforgettably tranquil stay with extraordinary sweeping views of the sparkling Mediterranean from every room and all the comforts of home and more: a well-equipped kitchen, super bathrooms, cosy fireplace and ultimate luxury as far as I am concerned of a heated pool in a truly idyllic setting. The garden overhangs the ocean and has a lovely outdoor kitchen. Miralejos is a much loved home, full of colour which provides the perfect conditions for writers and painters to work in. Organic fruit and veg farm nearby, cycling in the Cerro Gordo, yoga on the beach- a d.i.y spa!

Location
The neighbourhood
The bay itself offers so much - shops, restaurants, water sports, nature and a great farm shop. It's a 20-minute drive to Frigiliana and Nerja, two popular typical Andalusian villages. It's an hour or so to the Sierra Nevada: this part of Spain offers the unique possibility of skiing in the mountains and sunbathing on the beach in the same day! Malaga and Granada are both 45 mins by car.
Local points of interest from The Owner
- Located on Granada’s beautiful Mediterranean coast and on the edge of the breathtaking Cerro Gordo nature reserve is the beautiful bay of La Herradura, only 45mins by car from the airport of Malaga and 45mins from Granada and the splendour of the Alhambra
- La Herradura village boasts many wonderful restaurants and shops and a gorgeous 2 kilometre sand and pebble beach that is also moments from Marina Del Este home to yachts and boat excursions. It is 15mins from the popular, much loved Nerja and Frigiliana
- 10 mins from Almuñécar the traditional Spanish town with local markets and some excellent food shops. It is unique in its micro climate and as one of the most southerly points of Europe guarantees year long sunshine and climate to match that of California.
- On offer are lots of sports including scuba diving, hiking, Kayaking, Sailing, Golf, paragliding, windsurfingand with the magnificent ski slopes of the Sierra Nevada only 60mins away you can ski in the morning and relax on the beach in the afternoon.
- There are also the magical white villages of the Alpujarras to discover and countless other secluded spots nearby including the caves and waterfalls at Maro. Malaga is just 45mins by car with its famous Picasso museum and cultural stimulus, Marbella 2hours

We just had an amazing time at Miralejos! The views are amazing and we truly enjoyed all the lovely spots in and around the house. We stayed with 4 adults and 2 teenage boys, with more than enough space for all of us. The outdoor area with the (heated) pool and the BBQ was great and we used it every day. Temporary building works nearby were no problem at all. We went snorkelling, kayaking, saw the mountain goats, went for nice walks and had good food in Herradura etc. A true summer holiday. The owner Dirk is very friendly and helpful with lots of nice tips!
