The Experience

Slip into a peaceful world with far-reaching mountain views. A handful of houses; in the distance, the sea. So calming, it’s possible you will never stir from your vine-shaded patio. The two blinding-white Andalusian-style houses are prettily hung with geraniums and have uninterrupted views, one to the sea, the other to the mountains. The big pool is edged with colourful pots and the garden is a triumph of wild olive and carob, giant cactus, succulents and palms, with plenty of shady spots from which to admire the views.

Inside, the vaulted, beamed living spaces have comfy sofas, fresh flowers and pretty pottery. Bedrooms are neat-as-a-pin with king size beds, kitchens have everything you need and Maureen leaves you a welcome basket including wine, beer and crisps. For al fresco meals you’ll find an outdoor grill and eating area with the best views ever.

Come to unwind, recharge your batteries, laze on a lounger and be soothed by a cool breeze and the delicious scent of rosemary and lavender.

Reviews

If you need to escape the daily grind and recharge your tired batteries, Maureen has created just the place for you. Carved away in the hills looking down to the coastline are these two gorgeous, cosy casitas just ideal for a couple. You can hide away and no one will find you, have a drink in the shade, cook dinner to eat under the stars, sunbathe and look across to the mountains. Perfect.

My partner and I have just returned from a wonderful, relaxing break at Los Olivos. Maureen's cottage is blissfully tranquil and extremely comfortable - and the mountain views are incredible! We loved watching the birds in the olive grove, spending lazy afternoons by the pool and sitting out on the terrace as the sun went down behind the hills. Many thanks, Maureen, for a perfect week.

Susan, Harrogate

Fabulous retreat in the most comfortable cottage. Beautiful interior with everything you could possibly wish for. A truly wonderful place to stay, views to die for and a stones throw from Spanish towns, great eateries and an easy 30 minute drive to the beach. My only regret is that I've only just found this gem .

Megan, Milton Keynes

Another great visit to the hills! We love both cottages as they each have different aspects. We also love the pool and the restful nature. Maureen is so helpful- we will be back soon!

Clara, Brighton and Hove

We have just returned from 6 wonderful days at Casa Limones. We loved the wildflower walks directly from the house, the spectacular views across the olive grove to the mountains and the mature well loved garden. The house is well equipped and comfy. The information book misses nothing! We particularly liked the glimpse of pink geraniums and blue sky through the shower window and the sweet cats that popped by to sunbath with us. Thank you Maureen for being such a lovely host.

Location

The neighbourhood

It's a short drive off the main Alhaurin-Fuengirola road, down a small country lane but not too far from shops and restaurants. Los Limones looks down to the coast and Los Olivos to the mountains and valleys and you are surrounded by the National Park so walking is sublime. Alhaurin el Grande is 6kms for good restaurants and Fuengirola about 15-20 minutes in the car. The Lauro Golf Resort is near.

Local points of interest from Maureen Cassey

  • Enjoy spectacular views from the cottages of eagles gliding on the thermals above the Sierras de Ojen National Park, or only a 15 minute drive into the park for magical walks amongst Pine, Mediterranean Oak, Carab and Chestnut trees.
  • Enjoy lunching on local fish at the many Chiringuito bars on the beaches, or dinner watching the sunset transform the colour of the sea to copper tones !
  • Local olive oil and a huge selection of local organic salad and fruit produce available in local shops.
  • World Heritage Site The Alhambra Palace, the Historical mountain town Ronda dating back to the Romans with it's bridges straddling the deep gorge and vibrant Seville all three are an unforgettable day out.
  • See local life, spend a warm evening in the bustling town square of Fuengirola with it's imposing church, eat at one of the outside cafes with a selection of tapas (The Plaza Bar is my favourite) lots of little boutique shops too.
  • Take a drive to the incredible turquoise blue lakes, see amazing rock formations at El Torcal or visit the newly opened breathtaking Caminito del Rey walkway built onto the side of cliffs along a ravine with spectacular views. Pre book online.
