The Experience

Sitting in a large garden with peaceful meadow and valley views, this converted medieval stone and thatch barn brings contemporary comfort to rustic charm.

Inside, an open-plan living area under young-oak beams has comfy sofas, an electric wood-burner style fire and a handmade Shaker kitchen. Two bedrooms – one a king, the other a twin – have en-suite limestone bathrooms, and there’s a sofa bed if you need it. The friendly owners have kitted it out with everything you need – from boogie boards, crab lines and buckets and spades to board games and DVDs.

The heated indoor pool is a treat – glass bifold doors lead out to raised decking with views over the gardens and orchard. Kids will get a kick out of the playground with swings and a climbing frame, and there’s plenty of space to run wild or play hide and seek among the trees. And as if it couldn’t get more idyllic – a babbling brook winds through the garden (pooh sticks anyone?).

Reviews

A truly delightful place to stay, ideal for family adventures or lovers of the countryside. Lovely owners Andrew and Emma have thought of everything, from a delicious homemade cream tea to welcome your arrival to a wonderful welly collection, if you haven't brought your own. A fun childrens play area with climbing frame, great local walks and a stunning indoor swimming pool with a great view.

We had a great holiday in the Cider Barn. It is a great location for getting around the South Devon sights and many great beaches. The pool is great, though, the pool itself was quite cold. The accommodation was lovely and comfortable. Would definitely recommend it

Renske, Hoevelaken

Our home away from home. Lower Grimpstonleigh is an amazing place run by fabulous people. We should probably keep this to ourselves, but Milly and James really deserve a good review (; 10 out of 10. See you again, all the best from the Netherlands, Renske.

Joachim, Bad Krozingen

Had a lovely time in Lower Grimptonleigh, - Milly and James are very helpful and relaxed, the old barns are refurbished with skill and taste and a feeling for what you need, with the stunning pool next door. A wonderful place to get away from it all, the nearest town is a ten minute drive away.

Gillian, Hitchin

We had a wonderfully relaxing Easter week staying in both barns Cider and Top with our daughters and their families. All the children 6 -14 loved the pool as did we 'grown ups'. The gardens full of the most amazing primroses, as are all the banks, in surrounding lanes. Beautiful location so quiet just bird song and very happy children. We didn't get to meet both Milly & James as they were on their own holiday but they couldn't have been more helpful beforehand.
