The Experience
Views swoop across fields towards Dartmouth and Dartmoor from the little lane up to the farm. Your neat first-floor annexe, tucked on the side of the owner’s Victorian farmhouse, is deeply tranquil with nothing but birdsong to disturb you.
Walks and cycles from the door will be sublime, but if it’s raining you can read, play board games or tackle a jigsaw – the little window seat catches the evening sun. Owls will hoot you to sleep in the super-king bed under pretty wooden beams – there are blackout blinds so you shan’t be woken early.
Spruce yourselves up in the sparkling shower room with underfloor heating then head downstairs for a restorative breakfast in the dining room: breads and pastries from the local artisan bakery, fresh fruit, homemade muesli and good coffee during the week along with cooked options at the weekends. Explore lovely Totnes, boaty Dartmouth or pretty Kingsbridge.

Wow.. where to start. One of the best weekends we have had and it was not only down to this beautiful accommodation but the incredible hosts, Richard and Jane. They went above and beyond throughout the weekend - such kind and generous people, making our stay so enjoyable and relaxing. The breakfasts were fantastic, plenty of choice and Richard and Jane were very accommodating to any requests. The accommodation itself was very clean and comfortable and beautifully decorated, it felt very luxurious! We will 100% be back and cannot recommend this place or the hosts enough! 10000/10!

From the moment we arrived at Little Wing we knew we had found something special. Our room was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, and filled with thoughtful touches. Breakfast was excellent each morning and the cooked breakfast was delicious. Richard’s recipe for the vegetable lasagne was scrumptious. What truly made our stay outstanding, though, was the hospitality. Jane and Richard were incredibly welcoming, offering terrific tips for local walks, nearby attractions. If you are looking for an authentic countryside getaway with all the charm and none of the fuss, Little Wing is a gem.

Charming BnB in a quiet, rural setting, with only hooting owls & rustling leaves the ambient sounds at night. Comfy bed, tasteful shower room, lovely products & soft towels. Stylishly decorated, with some original farmhouse features. Room for clothing, a writing table, coffee/tea-making facility & a small fridge & the outside sitting area invites you to relax with a cuppa, a drink, or to just enjoy the fresh air. Great breakfast, & we also sampled a moreish vegetarian lasagna. Jane & Richard are super friendly and provided great advice for outings and places to visit. We will be back! 😊

Location
The neighbourhood
Little Wing is nicely remote, surrounded by fields and farmland, yet it's only two miles to The New Inn in Morleigh for supper – steaks are their speciality. Come for Dartmouth's Royal Regatta in August, music festival in June or food festival in October. Totnes has an independent cinema and interesting shops. Chilli lovers: don't miss a visit to the South Devon Chilli Farm in Loddiswell.
Local points of interest from Jane Ambrose
- Little Wing at Ritson Baron Farm is superbly located seven miles from Dartmouth, Kingsbridge and Totnes with magical Dartmoor being a only thirty-minute drive away.
- Blackpool Sands (a blue flag beach) is regarded as one of the best beaches in the region. Perfect for swimming and long relaxing days. Just 7.6 miles from Ritson Barton Farm.
- We have public footpaths from the house and can advise you on beautiful walks through serene valleys to villages and pubs, including a round-robin which takes approximately an hour and a half.
- All year round we have a variety of birds. The swallows arrive in spring, have their young and seem to want to get to know us! The owls are so often vocal and the buzzards soar through the valley.
- Totnes and Kingsbridge both have charming, independent cinemas and shops, along with a fantastic range of eateries. Dartmouth is home to The Seahorse, Rock Fish, Andria and plenty more, then there's the award winning The Cott at Dartington.
- On a Wednesday and Sunday evening, if you like off-road running, join us and you will be warmly welcomed by the South Hams Hash House Harriers. It’s a great opportunity to get deep into the Devon countryside and always a great pub at the end!

Introducing
Jane Ambrose
Jane and Richard, both country lovers, have always enjoyed the South Hams. They moved here in 2018 and have embraced rural life with enthusiasm. They’re also sociable and love entertaining so running the Little Wing as a B&B is right up their street.
Prospective visitors probably won't need encouragement to stay in Devon's lovely South Hams - we certainly didn't but choosing Little Wing as our accommodation was simply the best choice we could have made for its location alone! The rooms themselves are beautifully appointed and generously equipped with everything one could possibly need for a carefree break whilst the garden is a haven of tranquillity. Jane and Richard are the most generous and welcoming of hosts who cook superb evening meals on request in a gorgeous, private dining room. Sublime!
