The Experience
Rural chic at its best! A thatched 18th-century cottage bursting with character and clutter-free style. Dreamy window seats, an inglenook fireplace, oak floorboards and latch doors, exposed beams, cob walls, wood-burners, a rustic antique dining table, a vintage leather armchair… fresh flowers, soft furnishings, candles and contemporary artwork complete the picture. Picasso print line drawings dot the kitchen – a long, narrow Victorian addition with stone flooring, a painted dresser and all you’ll need. Up the cottagey stairs to the oh-so-pretty bedrooms, light and luxuriously carpeted with views of church, water meadows and woods beyond. Both have king-size, French style, cream iron beds, crisp white cotton and chests of drawers; the larger gets a buttonback chair, the smaller, a cast-iron fireplace, and the spacious bathroom between them has sumptuous towels and toiletries. All this, and a herb and flower-planted garden, in the quietest part of a most attractive village in Dorset. Fantastic for cycling and chalk ridge walks, and a ten-minute drive from Georgian Blandford. It’ll be hard to leave.

A beautiful cottage in a pretty village location. Tastefully decorated with a mixture of traditional and modern. Spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable. The welcome package of bread, milk, wine, chocolates and flowers was especially appreciated. Super soft pillows were an added luxury.

Beautiful cottage, perfect stay. The hosts left wine and bread for us which was a lovely touch :). Gorgeous little village and cottage well maintained. Would definitly recommend.

This is a charming Dorset cottage, with great attention to detail. The kitchen is very well equipped, so great if you want to eat in. Super comfortable beds, high quality linen and towels were much appreciated. There are some lovely walks direct from the door, but it is also well placed to access other Dorset treasures by car.

Local points of interest from Emma Perry
- With so many beautiful walks from your doorstep you can certainly leave the car parked up for the day.
- The lovely Georgian market town of Blandford Forum is just a short drive away although we like to put our walking shoes on and meander our way through the beautiful grounds of Bryanston School next to the river Stour
- The stunning Jurassic Coast with cliff top walks and beautiful sandy beaches lies just 35 minutes away by car. Our favourite beach is Studland which boasts amazing views, horse riding, sailing and water sports. It really does cater for everyone.
- The superb hill fort of Hod Hill has the greatest views over rural Dorset and is home to spectacular wild flowers and butterflies. Enjoy a breathtaking walk towards the summit of Hambledon Hill, an iron age Hill fort and why not take a picnic.
- You may want to take the opportunity to visit Bath or Salisbury during your stay. They are both an easy drive away or you may choose to visit Shaftsbury and Gold Hill (which is where the memorable Hovis Ad was filmed)
- Lovely local pubs for great food and drink. I will be very happy to introduce you to our favourites.

We are an elderly couple who fell on our feet at 53 Durweston. Desperate to have a break during Covid, this was just what we needed. Well presented cottage, comfortable beds, squidgy pillows and soft towels, immaculately clean and to top it all - fresh flowers, bread, milk, wine, chocolate and treats for the dog. Excellent days out with the dog - the perfect get away. Thank you Emma, we have come back rejuvenated.
