The Experience

On the edge of historic Wimborne, a beautifully renovated Georgian house with bags of space for families or groups of friends. Charming owners Ali and William live further down the lane at Deans Court and the front windows frame views of the iron gates and mature trees of their estate. Step through an arched doorway into a spacious architectural gem. High ceilings, cosy nooks, sash windows and a wonderful turned staircase rub shoulders with Ali’s flair for interior design. Vibrant kilims brighten white wooden floors, while patterned French linen blinds team well with walls painted in delicate shades. The seven peaceful bedrooms are filled with antiques and overlook the lawned garden or the estate; traditional bathrooms are stocked with fluffy white towels and Bramley products. Stroll to the farmers’ market for local produce and enjoy candlelit feasts in the theatrical, red dining room. There’s an entertainment room with all the screen fun you could want: TV, Netflix, Apple movies to rent, Xbox… And a hot tub for five just outside. The ancient Minster is a short walk and little ones will love the dinky ‘Model Village’.

Reviews

Janet, London

Spent a fabulous weekend at the gate house! Sheer opulence! Despite the weather we were cosy and snug! Enjoyed cold water swimming, bluebell walks and delicious pesto made from the abundant wild garlic we gathered. My guests and I work for nhs and this wonderful weekend was gifted for us as nhs staff which was so kind and allowed us much needed rest and luxury recuperation! Can’t wait to come back!

Ed, Beaconsfield

Comfortable, spacious house ideal for large family get-togethers. Superb service from the team at Deans Court. We requested an early check-in as one of our party had an all-day Zoom and they kindly offered an office nearby. Everything was perfect, thank you.

Our stay at The Gate House couldn't have been better. It's a beautiful house full of character. It's warm, cosy and every need has been considered including the welcome hamper and the environmentally friendly cleaning products. We all piled onto the huge and comfy sofa in the games room to watch the rugby final. Being just on the edge of beautiful Wimborne, it's easy to pop out to the shops and restaurants. We had a fantastic dinner at The Wimbourne Pig and a visit to The Tap Room serving real ale and local beer was a treat. A trip to the beautiful Jurassic coast topped off our stay.

Sacha, Wimborne

What a perfect property to make magical memories! My daughter celebrated her 18th at the Gate House with 5 friends during this difficult covid restricted time and it couldn't have lived up to expectations more! The house and gardens are beautiful and the different feel of every room was very enchanting and inspiring. The white dressing robes were such a treat after being in the hot tub. It is so well equipped that everything she needed was there. Also, to be so close to the lovely Wimborne bars and pubs made it very easy to enjoy some nightlife too whilst there. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Caroline, Bournemouth

This was our second stay in the Gatehouse and we’ve already booked for next year. I think that speaks volumes. The house is comfortable and spacious and very well equipped with the provision of fluffy gowns and luxury bathroom products making it feel more like a spa than a self-catering stay. If you need to accommodate a large party you’ll find the Gatehouse difficult to beat and the cost of a Monday to Friday low season booking is probably unbeatable.
