The Experience

Tucked away on a quiet street, this detached 1790 cottage is just a five-minute stroll from the beach, sparkling blue waters and a standout restaurant, The Hut. Drop by for a brasserie-style menu packed with just-caught seafood.

Your hosts Mair and Lee are consummate professionals who make sure your holiday runs smoothly. They’ll pre-book your ferry, suggest great places to eat and highlight the island’s best bits whether you love walking, gardens, golf, fine dining or simply relaxing. All six en suite bedrooms are inviting, with TVs, speedy WiFi and bath robes.

Breakfast in the dining room is a treat. Tuck into fresh fruit salad, full English or lighter options, all made to order. From the door, you can walk straight onto the coast path to the Needles chalk stacks. Pack a picnic for the beach, visit lovely Yarmouth or Freshwater Bay where The Piano Café makes a perfect stop off.

Location

The neighbourhood

As well as The Hut on Colwell Bay, you can also dine at Long Beach Bar. Its spacious deck, sea views and simple seafood dishes make it ideal for a good-value lunch or relaxed evening meal. Play golf at Freshwater Bay, visit Dimbola Museum & Galleries, or explore Farringford House & Gardens, Tennyson's beautifully restored home set in award-winning grounds. All are within a 20-minute drive.

Introducing

Lee & Mair

Mair and Lee renovated Rockstone at the start of 2025. Before that, they ran a B&B in Bembridge on the other side of the island. They provide a warm, concierge-style service and are both attentive and welcoming. Living in the cottage themselves means there’s always someone on hand.
