The Experience

The upstairs sitting room is lovely and light with sash windows and deep sills making the most of the views, plenty of seating round a wood-burning stove and a study area. You cook in a sociable, country style kitchen with a sofa and chair for chatterers or helpers and eat in the dining room at a big table, warmed by another wood-burner – find books, scrabble, bread from the local bakery and basics for cooking in the cupboards.

Sleep well in peaceful bedrooms (one downstairs) all a good size and with pretty fabrics, deep mattresses and crisp linen. On warm days you’ll be in the garden, safe for dogs and unruly toddlers and with a lawn for a kick about with a football or lazing in the sun. A little pond is fun for gazing and you’ll find a barbecue, table and chairs at the back.

Just around the corner is The Crown Inn for great food, locally sourced and with regularly changing menus to reflect the seasons.

Reviews

A superb base for walking, days out at the coast, visiting historic houses and gardens, wonderful cycling routes and great pubs to stop at for a pint and some local food.

The Yellow House was a wonderful experience for 2 grandparents, a mum and dad and 2 young ladies aged 7 & 4. The house was immaculately clean, beautifully decorated including some lovely paintings. It’s kitchen and dining room were fully equipped with everything. The rear garden with BBQ and furniture was delightful in this hot summer. It was in a lovely village and only 20 mins or so from the N. Norfolk beaches. I have recommended it to our greater family and would happily go back. The beds were great.

James, Grantham

We have recently stayed in The Yellow House and had such a wonderful time. It’s comfy with plenty of space. It’s easy to get to the beaches that we love at Brancaster, Holkham and Burnham Overy Staithe. And the pub in the village is well worth a visit. It was great value and we will be booking again for the summer! We would highly recommend a visit!

Justin, Boothby Pagnell

The Yellow House is absolutely charming. Great location for Norfolk and very close to the excellent Crown Inn. The house is beautifully proportioned with everything one needs. We loved our 5 day stay and are definitely coming back.

Barney, Stamford

The perfect bolthole in Norfolk - beautifully decorated and exceedingly comfortable and cosy. Great location and away from the crowds on the north coast, yet close enough to go there. Easy to book and excellent value.

Location

The neighbourhood

The walk along Holkham beach from Burnham Overy Staithe to Holkham is charming. The National Trail is made up of two long distance walking trails - Peddars Way and the Norfolk Coast Path. Cyclists can join most of the Peddars Way or head to the Norfolk Coast Cycleway which runs from King's Lynn to Great Yarmouth. End the day with delicious fish and chips from French's in Wells-next-the-Sea.
