We stayed in the 2 double bedrooms in the house for 5 nights in a glorious Autumn setting. The rooms were very comfortable and had all the accessories that we could possibly require. Our hosts Andrew and Kirsteen looked us incredibly well........entirely consistent with previous reports. We thoroughly enjoyed our pre-dinner drinks and 3 course dinner with them on 3 of the evenings that chose to remain at base. We found Applegarth House to be an excellent central and convenient base for exploring Dumfries & Galloway.

Kirsteen and Andrew are wonderful hosts - nothing is too much trouble and dinners are very entertaining. Applegarth House is a delightful base from which to explore Dumfries and Galloway. One of the best Sawdays stays we have had.

We had 4 wonderful nights staying at Applegarth House just out of Lockerbie. Kirsteen is an outstanding host, and along with her husband, Andrew, made our stay most enjoyable and memorable. The house is stunning and immaculately maintained, our bedroom suite was large, with beautiful decor and well-equipped. The bathroom was similarly impressive. Breakfast — which was absolutely delicious — was served in a large dining /sitting room area, filled with light and charming furniture. Kirsteen has excellent advice about day trips in the area. We heartily endorse a stay at Applegarth House.

Kirsteen and Andrew take hospitality to a whole new level! We had the most marvellous, and all too brief, stay on 22 September 23. They made us feel like honoured guests in their lovely home. They offered dinner as well as bed and breakfast and that led to a delightful evening - it felt like a country house party! - in the company of Kirsteen and Andrew and other guests. We cannot speak too highly of Applegarth and we will be back!

Applegarth House is so warm and welcoming with charming hosts who couldn’t do enough to ensure we were comfortable throughout our stay. Annan is a beautiful well-furnished large and homely room with luxurious plush linen on very comfortable beds. The bathroom is spacious and warm with a shower over the bath, fluffy towels and lush toiletries. Hot drinks are available in the room with a thoughtful cafeteria, quintessential teapot, cup and saucer, a variety of teas and a flask of cold fresh milk on request. The food is delicious and served in a relaxed environment.

This is a lovely place. Andrew and Kirsteen looked after us brilliantly and made us feel very much at home.

I wanted to thank you both so very much for such a lovely stay with you at the end of August. You have such a beautiful home and could not have been more kind and welcoming to me. The room I stayed in was so wonderfully comfortable, I wished I could have stayed for longer. Supper and breakfast were completely delicious -- and a drink on your lovely terrace was just such a lovely way to start the evening. Thank you again so very much. I could not have asked for a lovelier stay. It was everything I wanted and needed and much more.

Driving up to Applegarth House, we knew that we were stepping into luxury and charm. Our hosts were so welcoming and all that anyone could wish. Our accommodations were so nicely appointed and designed to create a relaxing and pampered experience. The en-suite was luxurious and the bedroom was a sanctuary! We walked along the river and to the nearby Church. The provided breakfast was as beautiful to look at as it was to eat. We opted for dinners and oh my goodness! The table settings were so pretty we knew the meal was going to be amazing. We will most definitely stay here again!

Superb in every way. Kirsteen and Andrew made us most welcome at Applegarth on our arrival: tea and scones were a real treat after a long drive. Our rooms were even better than I'd imagined: a huge comfortable bed and a spacious bathroom with every last little detail considered. Dinner was delicious (Kirsteen is an excellent cook) and we thoroughly enjoyed their company over food. And breakfast was excellent too - thank you Andrew! In short, we left feeling relaxed & nurtured despite having been surrounded by fabulous taste and luxury. Can't wait to find an excuse to stay again.

We had a wonderful stay at this gem of a place so easily accessed from the motorway. Our bedroom and fabulous ensuite were beautifully appointed with a very comfortable bed and all the amenities you could need. We also had a lovely view of the garden and surrounding countryside. Our wonderful hosts provided us with great company and food. Kirsteen cooked a lovely dinner and Andrew served us quite the best cooked breakfast we have ever eaten complete with haggis. We enjoyed several beautiful walks in the lovely countryside. Thoroughly recommended, 5 star rating all round.

Kirsteen and Andrew were generous to a fault throughout our two night visit in the lovely surroundings of Applegarth. Their patience tested by our extrovert year old spaniel they provided a warm welcome, delicious dinner and breakfasts, comfortable accommodation, lovely garden and wider surroundings and most of all a warm welcome and care. Thank you both!

Kirsteen and Andrew are impeccable hosts and Applegarth is a delight. Their patience tested to limits by our extrovert 12 month old spaniel they nonetheless went to great lengths to ensure that our two night stay was all it should be: comfortable room, delicious dinner and breakfasts, wonderful garden and wider surroundings and, most of all, a warm welcome and care from start to finish. We have just enjoyed four very happy days at Applegarth House, an excellent B & B in the beautiful Dumfriesshire countryside. We were totally isolated from even the sound of traffic, yet the A74(M) is only 3 miles away, with access at Lockerbie. We were warmly welcomed with tea, scones and cake and immediately felt very much at home in Kirsteen and Andrew’s lovely home and garden. Very comfortable beds, delicious breakfasts and dinners and a lovely sitting room to relax in, plus good conversations with our hosts and other guests, ensured an excellent – though too short - stay.

Applegarth House is total joy from the warmth of welcome to delicious food and wine in such comfort! The garden was glorious set in beautiful Dumfrieshire countryside 10 minutes from the M74 . Kirsteen and Andrew make you feel as if you are staying with friends and we have been delighted to return 3 times this year. The bedroom and bed are a total luxury wish I could have stayed longer!

Applegarth House is every bit as good as the Sawday's description indicates. It is a very lovely old Country House beautifully restored with exquisite interiors . Kirsteen & Andrew are excellent and attentive hosts. Kirsteen is clearly an excellent cook and dinner was superb and breakfast to a very high standard. Our room was first class in every respect. It is a situated in a peaceful rural location but is easy to get to from the A74.

Kirsteen and Andrew are wonderful hosts and have a lovely house in which to welcome their guests. A big room with all the necessary facilities, great big bed and very comfortable. Liz was not feeling well on the evening of our arrival so could not take dinner. Kirsteen and Andrew decided to keep me company for drinks and for dinner together. Most welcoming. We will be back.
