The Experience
Steve and Sue have spent years lovingly converting this 17th-century barn, once used to make cider, into this light and spacious space. The huge front doors lead into an airy living area with an impressive, vaulted ceiling – Steve is a master cabinetmaker and has crafted all of the interiors himself.
In the kitchen you’ll find a welcome basket of bread, cheese, eggs, milk, wine and fresh produce from the garden if it’s available. Take breakfast outside on the patio or in your private courtyard – there are sun loungers and a barbecue here too.
There’s wonderful walking and cycling along the river into medieval Dinan and along the coast, or drive 20 minutes to Dinard for great restaurants and some of the best beaches in the area. Cancale, famous for its oysters, is also a 20-minute drive away. Mont St Michel is 30 minutes and Rennes, capital of Brittany, with its parks, gardens and art galleries, is 45.

Location
The neighbourhood
La Chapellerie is in the grounds of a 17th-century manor house, with views of the surrounding countryside and sheep grazing peacefully. Miniac-Morvan is a 5-minute drive and has a small supermarket, and the pretty fishing village of St Suliac, with its granite cottages and 13th-century church, is 10 minutes by car.
Local points of interest from Sue & Steve Davison
- La Chapellerie is a holiday home in a converted barn at La Binellerie. Situated in a peaceful, rural setting, in 1.6 hectares of gardens and woodland. A perfect location for a relaxing holiday with family or friends.
- Our nearest boulangerie is actually around the corner where you can buy artisan sourdough bread twice a week. The boulangerie in Chateauneuf is a 20 min walk, although we do have bikes available for the use of guests!
- The nearest supermarket is at Miniac Morvan(10 mins drive) where there is also an excellent fishmonger, a delicatessen selling local products, and the usual bank and Post Office. There is also a market here every Friday morning.
- We are just a few kilometers from the river Rance where there are numerous restaurants and bars. From the lock at Lyvet you can take a pleasant riverside walk to the medieval town of Dinan (1hour )
- If you enjoy seafood then Cancale is the place to go, famous for it’s oyster beds.
- La Chapellerie is close to all of the main attractions in this beautiful area of Brittany, including Mont St Michel ( the most visited place in France after Paris!), St Malo, Dinard, Dol de Bretagne, and Rennes the capital of Brittany.

Introducing
Sue & Steve Davison
Sue and Steve live in a little cottage next to their gites. They’ve lived here since 1996 and have spent much time renovating the properties – it’s a definite labour of love. Sue is originally from Leeds and studied music at the Northern College of Music, later becoming a private piano teacher. Steve works as a cabinetmaker – the cabinets, stairs, doors and windows in the gites are all his work – and has specialised in bespoke kitchens in the UK. In their spare time they have a boat and enjoy taking it out on the Rance river.
We stayed at the new old domicil "La Chapellerie". We think often of the wunderful days in Britany and of the House of Sue and Steve. We liked it very much to stay in the house and we felt good there! This it's why we want to say "Thank you" again for the good time in La Chapellerie. It was very nice, cozy and incredibly generous. The furniture, the kitchen, the windows and doors and much more was all made by our landlord.
