The Experience

Come for a lovely Côte d’Or village near Beaune – and some of the world’s greatest wines. The house and the bedrooms in the stables are charming and peaceful and Pascal’s enthusiasm for good food and wine will inspire you. Breakfast is irresistible: locally-baked bread and croissants, homemade cake, cheeseboard, ham, omelettes, homemade jam, local butter and honey.

Work it off in the pool or wander down to the village and have a peek at the local 13th-century château. Clamber up to the ‘Vierge Noire’ statue or strike out for an hour to the Source de l’Ouche springs. Beaune is a 15-minute drive for wine tasting. Hire bikes and trundle along the tow path of the Burgundy canal, or take a barge trip to Vandenesse-en-Auxois.

Dinner is offered Tuesday to Saturday (just book in advance) and always using what is seasonal and fresh in the local market – the very best philosophy for excellent cooking. The conservatory with its honesty bar is a good spot for a nightcap.

Reviews

Wonderful stay with charming hosts, super rooms, great pool, delicious breakfasts (home made jams, amazing fruit salads, eggs cooked to order) and fabulous home cooked dinner. Highly recommend.

Georgina, Somerset

Maite and Pascal welcomed us warmly to their lovely house set in a peaceful and beautiful location. Our room was stylish, very comfortable and spotlessly clean. We dined at La Saura on Saturday night and Pascal cooked us one of the best meals of our holiday. Breakfast was also generous and delicious. The pretty garden and pool are the perfect place to relax. I would strongly recommend as a stop over, or for a longer break - handy for Beaune and the Burgundy wine villages.

La Saura is a perfect place for a stopover if you're driving towards or back from the south of France. We stayed with Maite and Pascal for one night, unfortunately on a Sunday when they don't serve dinner so we weren't able to fully appreciate Pascal's cooking, but he served us a spectacular breakfast. The interior décor belies the 18th century exterior - inside it is modern but entirely sympathetic and very comfortable. The separate sitting room for guests with its honour bar was a relaxing alternative in the evening to just staying in our room. We will return.

Jocelyn, London

We stayed for one night on our way to the Luberon. This was a truely wonderful experience. The rooms are very elegantly decorated, with the most comfortable mattresses and bathrooms - we all slept so well there. The garden is very beautiful, and we went for a very nice spring walk to a source in the country side. We had the most amazing three-course dinner, and the owners recommended a phantastic wine to accompany it. All of us felt really well cared for and would have liked to stay for longer. This is a phantastic place to relax, to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and the very good food!

Regina, Frankfurt

My wife and I spent a wonderful and relaxing week at Maïté and Pascal's in July 2021. We were delighted with the garden, the pool, the room, and the breakfast prepared fresh daily. In the evenings we really enjoyed Pascal's creative menus. The B&B is ideally located for excursions by electric bike to the vineyards south of Beaune (Pommard, Meursault, Santenay) as well as along the beautiful Canal de Bourgogne. We would stay at La Saura anytime again.

Stefan, Fribourg

My husband and I stayed at La Saura last week. We could not have been happier. Maité and Pascal were charming and generous hosts. After staying just three nights and eating in each night to enjoy Pascal’s wonderful locally sourced cuisine and sitting around the fire chatting we came away feeling like they were friends such is their warmth. The rooms are very comfortable and elegantly finished and furnished. The view from the house across to the hills and village below was also beautiful as is Burgundy in Autumn. We can't wait to return.

Sally-Anne, Melbourne

My wife and I stayed at La Saura for one night and thought how excellent it was under its new owners, Maite and Pascal Giordano. Not only was the accommodation spotlessly clean and very comfortable, but the owners could not have been more welcoming. Pascal is a retired professional chef and the food was outstanding. Both he and his wife were the perfect hosts. We considered ourselve very fortunate to have found this brilliant B&B and have already recommended it to friends.

Robert, Salisbury

Pascal's enthusiasm for cooking with only the freshest locally-sourced ingredients is infectious! It would be a delight to spend a few days discovering Burgundy, before returning to the pool before dinner in the magnificent dining room, and staying in one of their lovely new bedrooms.
