The Experience

Owner Elodie has made this handsome 200-year-old house entirely her own, and it shows. Although it sits in the centre of Viré, you’d never know it – mature trees and lawns wrap the house on every side, and the only sounds are birdsong and the occasional cork popping.

Four bedrooms range from two superior rooms with minibars and queen-sized beds overlooking the gardens, to a ground-floor room that opens straight onto the courtyard pool. All have private bathrooms. There’s a small gym, a library lounge, a piano room and a pool table for time spent inside.

Breakfast is the kind that makes you linger: homemade jams, honey from a local village, Jura cheese, good ham and bread, with Elodie hovering discreetly in the background. Book all four rooms and the guest wing is yours alone. There is a kitchen to use, but if you fancy dinner without the effort, Elodie knows an excellent local chef who will come and cook for you.

Reviews

This place is highly recommended... peaceful and comfortable as well as being well located for those heading south. Elodie is an enthusiastic and welcoming host who, although unobtrusive, is always available to help with requests. Unlike many local sites, one-night stays are accepted, and she even knows an excellent local chef who can come and serve up a delicious dinner if requested!

Introducing

Elodie Louis

Elodie and her husband came from near Lyon to take on this well-established B&B – he sells wine (naturally), while she is hands-on with everything else, from cooking and cleaning to greeting every guest herself.
